    Glad you picked Beaumont. I am currently drinking the '14s, which are terrific value. My wine merchant's (The Wine Society) Exhibition range includes a claret made by Beaumont, which is also excellent value.
    I like the blind tasting formula. Years ago I used to run monthly tastings and they were always blind. It helped to concentrate on the wine rather than the label and we had some fun voting on favourites and guessing prices etc. We once had a Lafite (albeit from a lesser vintage) in the line-up and it finished near the bottom, including from me and I knew what it was! Vintage is important, as you say.

    I'll definitely try these. I'm quite new to drinking wine seriously (about a year in) and I drank in total about 20 bottles of bordeaux, so take my suggestion with a pinch of salt, but I think my favorite was Chateau Moulin Du Cadet, Saint Emilion Grand Cru 100% Merlot 2018 (I paid about 30€).
    In general, Bordeaux is my go-to region for quality-price wine and I tend to gravitate around the 15-20€ range.

    • @drmatthewhorkey
      @drmatthewhorkey  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That Saint Emillion is actually the best wine in the Cadet range IMO so good job. There can be great value in Bordeaux if you find a good shop to recommend you good bottles. Enjoy the wine journey.

      @drmatthewhorkey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do yes, and used to have a lot more say in the wine at my last place.
      You know, I never really considered it, but when I saw that Beaumont was machine harvested I suppose it was just a confirmation bias thing, because I was always very impressed with the quality to price proposition. We were able to put it on at £50-60.
      I think 2016 was the last I tried and all 2016 was pretty good.
