    I like to use a deep pot or pan cut the bacon into 3rds and just constantly stir and mix until done. The fat ends up deep frying the bacon as long as you keep moving it around. Never had an issue with it rendering but if you want long strips the oven is the ticket and add some brown sugar and it's candy.

    this method is best for things like bacon bits/lardon where you have really high fat to meat ratio since the water will more evenly render fat than in a dry pan. i also find this method tends to make a pretty intense fond at the bottom of the pan because the water pulls out so much of the cure from the meat which eventually fries in the fat so i tend to use this method when im using bacon/guanciale as a base for my stews

    I’ve been doing it before TikTok made it a thing. I think it renders fat more evenly providing a better medium for heat exchange than just contact with a hot surface and the little bit of radiant heat you get from the hot pan. It allows you to heat more of the bacon’s surface area more evenly.

    Boiling meat makes it tough and chewy. However with bacon if you add a couple tablespoons of water, it can even out the temperature of the pan and make the begin cook more evenly. However, I'd still at only cook it at medium heat.

    This is a great method for cooking home fries. Cut the potatoes into cubes, just cover in water in a skillet, boil until all the water cools off, then add whatever fat you cook your potatoes in and fry until the outsides are crisp. You get a soft creamy center and a crisp brown exterior.

    Best way to limit fat is the combination way. 3/4 cook in pan then cook with paper towel in microwave (time based on amount). You get crispy bacon with most of the fat out. Always work also make less a mess since your not cooking too high with grease splatting all over. Oven works as well but your cooking in its fat the entire time and if it is hot outside you don't want to turn the oven on and heat up the house.

      you have to play around with times and temps for your own oven but if its overcooked I agreed with chirpys reply, either its too high or in there too long...try a fresh pack of bacon put it on a sheet pan lined with foil, 400F set it for 10 minutes then take one slice out and see how it is if its not done yet let the rest cook for 2 more minutes keep taking a pierce out to try every 2 minutes until its the way you like it and take note how long it took, for me I do flip them all over one time halfway through.

    Low and slow on cast iron, 1hr per pound. It shouldn't pop, just sizzle. Best bacon ever, especially from butcher.
    Or if you are in a hurry for breakfast do whatever you want. I personally prefer to reheat pan fried bacon via microwave if in a hurry.
    But no matter what, just cook bacon how you're used to. Morning is too early for change. :)

  • @tylerwhite8429
    @tylerwhite8429 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nothing beats the oven for whole strips.. the "boiling method" however is awesome if your doing pre-diced bacon for salads or breakfast gravy etc... the small bits tend to burn quickly but adding a little water does help the fat render and give much more even cooking... it does take nearly twice as long however. Also when doing this I usually use a sauce pan not a shallow frying pan.

    In my "culture" there is a food called gratons, some call it "cracklins" and there are subtle differences there, but the really good ones are cooked in cast iron kettles, its chunks of thick pork side meat and bacon. We start it with water in the bottom of the kettles like this and then once the fat has accumulated, the process continues and eventually there's enough to deep fry them. It is entirely different from pork rinds out of a plastic bag in a store. Its heavily seasoned with Creole and or Cajun seasoning...it is a longer slower process
