UK was a republic once. It was such a dystopian nightmare where Christmas and theatre and anything fun was banned that we begged the royal family to come back.

Seriously, look at Britain's past, we've tried everything, including no monarch for 11 years. The thing is, the monarchy made Britain what it is today, each king/queen added their own little piece. So if you hate the monarchy then you must look differently at Britain. Colonialism is a rather poor reason, there was a time when all the powers were doing it, if it wasn't the British Empire then it would be Spanish, French, German ect whoever won the latest war. It wasn't just down to the monarch, it was politicians too. They cost each person barely £1 and a head of state would cost a similar amount. They also bring in millions of ££££s. The irony is you only have to look at the nepotism of corporate business and the worship of celebrities to see traits of the monarchy reflected in other places, including the US. But the worst thing about the monarchy today is the toxic Harry and Meghan - the lies, the self-pity, using the media while complaining about it, keeping the titles and wanting the luxuries of royalty but not doing the work. They had the chance to show a life without it, but instead they leech off it. Other than that, Britain is quite happy with a monarchy and not just politicians.
Since when did wondering who your baby may look most like is to be called racism. It's rather common for all parenting to wonder about the features of their baby. Then, after the child is born, it's usual to decide who the child favors the most. This is not racism.
"how dark the skin may be" is a little different than "hoping they get the tallness and blue eyes from their mom".... None of us were privy to the context or tones.

TV tax doesn't go to the Royal Family. It goes to the BBC so we can have things like Doctor Who
