    I was five. My Grandma and I walked and as we did we would sing this song! It was also her queue for me to hold her hand. I know, sappy, but I miss her.

      Wayne Woodward more heartwarming than sappy.
      Something I definitely want to steal in the future and do with my family :)

    That B(7) Chord is the MONEY CHORD of the song, always has been, always will be. Forever.

    • @jamescreswell9037
      @jamescreswell9037 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope. Currently doing an ear and detailed tutorial study of "I Want to Hold Your Hand". Playing it as Lennon -rhythm, & Harrison -lead fills, did on the recording, a staccato half bar of a B power barre chord alternating to a staccato half bar of a B7 barre chord is played during the verses, the progression repeated twice each verse between each chorus and for the final verse. B7 first form is only played once -in the coda, again as prominently emphasised staccato (by Lennon). Justin's lesson above is a very easy open chord substituted & simplified single acoustic guitar (campfire) version. Much as The Beatles loved to use B7 e.g. "You're Going to Lose That Girl" & Bm e.g. "She Loves You", it's definitely not the money chord of this song. Lennon's Dm/F to G6 in the middle eight along with his rockin' powerful downstrokes of the C prior to the D rock 'n rolling the D with his banjo D voicing pinky at its end before returning to the verse are. FMM, pick any one of those three.

    The Elvis tune that went live earlier was missing the intro (just an editing mistake on my part) so I've deleted it and will put it up in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here's some fab four! :)

      @@TAmns7 when you've got your E and A shape barre chords under your fingers and thought that you're all set to be play whatever you want but then discover C-shape barre chords😐 They sound great but man fingers are not doing what they're supposed to do. It's all the pain like with F chord once again

    • @BarnsleyTimelord
      @BarnsleyTimelord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @wyatt scott No, it's far too difficult. I just took the top e string off. I don't know why more players don't do this.

    • @BarnsleyTimelord
      @BarnsleyTimelord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @wyatt scott You mean I can't make it easy for myself? I think I am a great guitar player. I sometimes take the low e off my guitar as well. You should try it.

    • @BarnsleyTimelord
      @BarnsleyTimelord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @wyatt scott The reason I take the 2 e strings off, is that I can't get on with them in guitar tuning. , so I just leave 4 strings on and tune it like a banjo. It was my Dad's old guitar, he bought it new in 1959. It's just stuck up in the shed most of its time. I'm not even sure what make it is, I think it has gibson on the headstock and some fancy writing with it. Never really got on with it.

    Really a fun song to play. Thank you very much Justin. You brought back my believe in my abilities: I'm playing guitar for more than 20 years now but got stucked somewhere along the line and never got better than an advanced beginner. Starting all over new with your beginner & intermediate courses I was (and still am) able to find out what I was doing right and wrong. You can't imagine how much my playing improved and how much fun it is now to progress after all these years. I owe you a lot !!!

    OK looks like what he plays in the record version (12 bar blues version) is just the E minor 7th and A minor 7th shap es at the G,D,E,B positions with a blues hammer on with each cord. So EM7 shape bar on the 3rd fret, Am7 shape bar on the 5th fret, Am7 shaped bard on the 7th fret and Em7 shaped bar on the 7th fret.

    Love your videos! I've been playing a few months but I'm having issues with counting from the last G in the chorus, C D G Em C D G ( right here) back to the verse. I can play the down down up up down up pattern for the verse. So essential it's G back to the beginning G. It doesn't sound right to me to count 4 beats on the last chorus G then to the other strumming pattern. Any advice would be great! And keep making great videos!

      He's alternating between normal G7 and one with the 5th raised to a 6th - chord name would be "G7add6". Playing like that is the classic way of getting a "blues shuffle" going.
