Mick Mickey there is an interview with Andrew where he states that the group was formed but didn't have an original though of going full time with it. People left and came but the current group has committed to Backtrack full time and quit their day jobs in order to give their all to the group. They perform in various gigs that they get booked and have plans to make original music. I'm personally very excited for the transition Backtrack has made throughout their time as a group and have loved every member that has made a contribution to it ❤
This is a good cover, but I need to be honest here. Jordan's departure from Backtrack killed the group (at least I think so). Jordan brought an essence of balance to the group, specifically the soloists. Mallory has a very clean, angelic tone, and she has the high soprano range to match. Melissa has the chesty, soulful, but restrained voice. She can kill he mezzo belts, hit soulful touches into head voice, and can stay really clean when she needs to. Jordan has the soulful, tenor voice, that the best a cappella groups have. Pentatonix is the obvious example, Scott has the massive range, strong belts, and crazy runs and riffs you need. Jordan, although obviously is not Scott, has a lot of those same traits. Strong belts, good range, good runs, the general bad boy, leader aura. He also though, much like Scott, shows restraint when singing harmonies, and keeps things very clean, with limited vibrato and force. Mike, just doesn't have it. Yes, Mike is an amazing vocalist, I'm not knocking his vocal skill at all, he just can't live up to the shadow Jordan left. Mike has a voice that is buttery smooth, with a very well trained falsetto, and high chest notes as well. Let me clearly state this, all of what I'm about to say, it's not that Mike can't do these things, but that he doesn't show them. He has high belts, yes, but they start to lose his buttery tone, they just have a somewhat generic tenor flavor. He doesn't give any runs, or improvisations to the melody. He definitely has a good voice, but I feel like he isn't an experienced soloist, at least not in this genre. But at the end of the day, music in its very nature is subjective. These are all just my personal thoughts, and it is absolutely justified if you disagree. I can't blame you, it's a very polarizing perspective that I've shared. I personally felt that Backtrack was at its strongest with Jordan, but that form of the group is very, very different from when the group was founded. The sound of any artist will evolve over time, especially when members leave. I imagine Backtrack doesn't really make enough to live comfortably with no other income. Music is expensive to create, and supporting one person on just music is difficult. Five people? That's five times the challenge (okay, it really isn't, but this post wouldn't flow as well if I was super realistic). That is a primary cause of all the departures I'm sure, that and this group started out of school friends, but evolved into a group based out of New Jersey. They aren't all lifelong, innately talented musicians, and not all of their passions land primarily in music (like Jordan, he was much more interested in med school, he's mostly just a hobbyist musician, one I really adore and hope he can release an EP if he has time).
This cover is so mysterious and good!! I really like the vibe. I’m just amazed. Good job!!!
Thanks Maria!
this was at my school!!! Thanks for the great concert and visiting
I liked ptx's version of this song. But this honestly sounds so much better. It might be because i like the original. But still amazing
Wow, thanks!
I agree, it's more dynamic than ptx's Version, which makes me think in this case you topped them! (in my own opinion of course) ^^
Can't even describe the good feelings this song gave me.

God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's pow'r
When we were gone astray
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's pow'r
When we were gone astray
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
In Bethlehem, in Israel
This blessed Babe was born
And laid within a manger
Upon this blessed morn
The which His Mother Mary
Did nothing take in scorn
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Fear not then, said the Angel
Let nothing you affright
This day is born a Savior
Of a pure Virgin bright
To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan's pow'r and might
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's pow'r
When we were gone astray
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
Oh tidings of comfort and joy
