- On May 3 last year, violence erupted in Manipur. Churches and homes of the Kuki-Zo people in Imphal were targeted. In the weeks that followed, people had to flee, leaving behind cherished memories and losing a part of themselves.

This crisis is the responsible for 10 kuki MLAs ad Ministers
Damage has been inflicted to both side, a collateral damage. Before the incident there were series of protest at CC Pur against government action like forest land survey, eviction drive, destroying of poppy plantation etc. During the month of March and April 2023 itself, many forest beat post are vandalised, burnt down. New open gim supposed to be inaugurated by CM was burt down on the eve of inauguration. Enough Pressure were already built up at Kuki community. An excuse, in the pretext of court directive to Manipur govt. to give reply to a query raise by Ministry of Tribal affairs regarding inclusion of Meiteis in ST, the riot stated by Kukis . Mr. Hangsing's statement is very very provocative. Since beginning kukis don't give cremation land to Meiteis/ Hindus at CC pur, but Meiteis gives burial ground to them in the valley areas. Meiteis need to give tax/ take permission from kukis for every religious functions at CC Pur whereas Meiteis don't do the same in the valley. Kukis are bullying Meiteis for a long period. Let Mr. Hangsing reply this. His statement is very very provocative instead of pasting and compromising. See the problem all over the world, USA fence its border, UK back out from European union. Why, because of the immigrant problem. Illegal immigrants are major problem in Manipur too. This is fallout of negligence of successive governments. They looted highway, looted bank, manufacture narcotic drugs, gun running through border etc. etc. Fact on ground is formation of Zalengam or independent kuki land.
