I stumbled across your channel while searching for aquatic plants near Early Branch. When Google told me there was a fish store in Varnville, I laughed and thought it was lying to me. I've lived here about 35 years and never saw a fish store in Varnville, even back in the day when the trophy store and pottery place were still open. I had to check out the website, which led me to TH-cam, and was amazed and fascinated to find out Google wasn't a liar. I've been enjoying your videos very much even though I don't have tropical fish. I love to see such a large, well planned, well managed set up like y'all have. I especially enjoy your outside pond and am trying to figure out how to convince my husband I need him to pump heated water in a portion of our pond so I can enjoy pretty fish too. Somehow I think I will just have to re-watch your videos.
Glad to have found your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos.
    Melissa in Early Branch

Koi Can live in freezing temperatures. No heat needed. African and South American Cichlids do. That is a very ambitious pond project. In Texas Every winter I'd bring my fish inside And keep them in 290 gallon heated totes. Pain in the butt. Lately we have been getting colder winters down south. I have used floating stock pond heaters But I can tell when the fish get Stressed during the colder weather. Also with frequent hurricanes, I'm sure you have a huge backup generator? Is flooding a problem for you? Also a good addition to your pond could be albino channel catfish. They do very good in colder temps. Get big and are beautiful white with golden eyes.

we have a big Back Up Genny for the fish facility, Pond has a built in overflow... Catfish especially channel catfish would be a catastrophic issue... they are predatory catfish and would basically eat every cichlid in that pond.. pond does not need heater because the water draining into it is 78-80 degrees so fish have an area that keeps them safe and warm
