That’s what she said… Really looking forward to diving The Hooker on our first trip to Bonaire next month. Want to do a night dive there close to the full moon for sure. Love your vids. Keep up the great work.
What a great video! I’ve heard of the Hilma Hooker before and was looking for a video to show my girlfriend about it. I’m happy to have stumbled across your channel and will definitely be checking out more of your videos!
OMG! Outstanding video! I've dove the Hilma several times, but didn't see half of what you pointed out. Night dive looks like a must do. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together.
Fantastic!!! I definitely am gona have to get some video lights. We are coming back to Bonaire around Christmas. I’ve thought about getting my advanced open water so I can see the Hooker. After our dive trip to Mahahual last week, I’m even more excited to do that now than ever. How many dives did it take to get all of the night shots? Thanks for this fantastic video.
Hi Caleb, Thank you and you are welcome. I believe it was 4 night dives. One reason it took that many was that I had a new camera and my lights were set too far out to match the white balance in front of the camera to add floats to offset the weight. So, the colors were off and I had to do some retakes. You always want to do more than one dive as you never know what might show up. This camera had a huge learning curve but in the end the colors and sharpness are amazing. Now I also bought an Atomos display to film in the day time as the Sony display is so tiny that with the Caribbean sun glare you can’t really see what you are doing. I also had to find the best interaction with the camera which I believe I have now but I am waiting on a Nauticam HDMI 2 male port adapter. I am thinking about making a video on why and how I made the switch to the Sony. It is not really the purpose of the channel but I have seen a lot of videos on underwater filming with the Sony A7siii, the ninja display and quite frankly they are terrible. People should not have to go through what I did. Do you think that would be of interest?
@@ADiversLife you could always have a tips and gear segment to the channel. I don’t think anyone would mind. Let’s face it, video/photo is a huge part of why many people dive Bonaire. I had been looking at either the GoPro 9 (maybe 10 now that it was just released) or the TG-6. I don’t think I’ve ever hear anybody complain about the TH-6 other than it’s missing manual mode. The 15000 lumen lights might be a little over the top for a GoPro though.
The TG6 is an excellent camera. Many local divers use it. This is a great affordable camera that takes you a big step beyond a GoPro. Also, the cost of putting it in a housing is much less.
Hi John, how are you, Monica and the kids? I have it but it has copyrighted music on it. Let me upload it to my personal TH-cam account and I will try to get you a link. It is not of the quality I shoot today but it is still pretty cool. I will need to send you a private link
Hi Eran, I used a Sony 28-60 lens with a Nauticam WWL-1Bwide angle wet lens designed to direct the light right at the 28 mm setting on the Sony lens so no distortion and no fisheye effect. Iso varied depending on where I was shooting. I have lights that will go up to 15000 lumen but the 15000 setting was too high for this dive. I don’t think I went over 3800 iso. You can see the anchor appeared like it in daylight. That was shot at night with this setup. For this picture profile the second clean iso range starts at 2000 iso. Gerald Undone did a number of reviews on picture profiles and the different ones available in the Sony and hlg3 showed to be the best fit for Sonys and for how I shoot. The second clean iso range for Slog3 starts at 12800. I need to play with that more My aperture was set at f11

I need to upgrade my iMac but I am waiting on the the IMac with the new chip and much more memory.than 16gb. Now the Sony does create Proxies automatically if you recording on the Sony which will speed things up (I really don't want to deal with proxies). However, if you want to use an Atomos display you must record on it and then you have to generate your own proxies. I am sure the later IMacs are faster but I will wait for the new iMac laying out another big investment. Hope this helps. My iMac is a great computer but my workflow pushes it to its limits.

Yea! This is incredible
Thank you! Give her a share. :-)
We dove the Hooker in July and we didn't see nearly that much. We are coming back for New Years Eve. Hopefully we'll see it again.
Super! Definitely, dive her again!
I need to do a night dive the next visit.
Bring a really good light, Curt, to get the experience. Bring some punch :-)
