Waterproof makeup
After i did my talk about money and makeup i got LOTS of questions about waterproof makeup.
So here is a list of the products that i use where water can be a problem.
NOTE: Not all products are waterproof but water resistant, so bare that in mind and make amendments where necessary. There is also a wealth of information below about potential issues that can arise. If you're a makeup artist and doing someone's makeup you need to be clear about what can and cannot be accomplished with waterproof/water resistant makeup.
Products i use in my kit for weddings:
1. Make Up For Ever aqua eye pencils (waterproof)
2. Make Up For Ever aqua lip pencils (waterproof)
3. Make Up For Ever lip pencils (not waterproof but very long lasting and huge compared to most pencils)
3. Make Up For Ever rouge artist (not waterproof, but the pigment is so strong and the staying power so good i use them)
5. Make Up For Ever mist & fix (not waterproof but can prolong make up wear - check for shine can be applied before makeup to help prolong)
4. Make Up For Ever face and body foundation (water resistant)
5. Make Up For Ever aqua cream (waterproof - good for eyes, lips, checks, etc...)
6. Make Up For Ever aqua black (waterproof - good for eye lining etc...)
7. Make Up for ever eye sealer (waterproof)
8. Make Up for ever eyeshadows and pigments (not water proof but the pigmentation means they last longer)
9. Make Up for ever hd blush (not water proof but great under airbrush foundation)
10. Make up for ever black pigment (to use with aqua smokey lash mascara to deepen the lashes - not waterproof but helps to make the mascara stick more - i only use this when i use fake lashes - YOU MUST CHECK FOR POTENTIAL TO SMEAR WHEN CRYING - if in doubt don't use)
11. Make Up for ever aqua smokey lash mascara (waterproof)
12. Make Up for ever super lip gloss (not waterproof but its lasts and lasts and lasts - note - very very sticky - think glue)
13. Dinair air brush foundation (water resistant)
14. Dinair paramedical airbrush foundation (waterproof)
15. Dinair airbrush shimmers/blush etc... (water resistant)
16. Dinair mosit and dewy (water resistant - beware of excess shine)
17. OCC airbrush foundation (water resistant)
18. OCC shimmers airbrush (water resistant)
19. Kett Hydro Proof airbrush foundation (waterproof - matte - be warned)
20. Kett Fixx Creme foundation (waterproof)
21. Temptu SB airbrush foundation (pro - water resistant)
22. model in a bottle spray (note - contains alcohol so check for potential irritation and shine)
23. Ben nye final seal (note - contains alcohol so check for potential irritation and shine)
24. Blue sealer (water resistant - check for shine)
25. Temptu pro concealer wheel (not waterproof but can be mixed with temptu SB foundation - which looks lovely on skin)
Information you MUST know when doing someones makeup - especially for weddings:
Blotting. Make sure you blot - lips, face etc... rather than laying down more powder (which never looks nice).
Blot lips after pencil. Reapply. Blot again. Lipstick. Blot. Lipstick. Blot. Lipstick. blot... etc....
Make Up For Ever super lip gloss really does adhere well to the lips. not to much now.
Look for strong pigments. this includes eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc...
Think about the setting you might be in - do you really need your makeup to me completely waterproof if you're just going shopping?
Remember sealers work great but some leave a shine to the shine. If you've applied shimmer blush, shimmer eyeshadows, shimmer lipstick, shimmer powder, shimmer blah blah blah and then a coat of sealer you might end up looking completely vinyl. Bare this in mind if you're using a sealer. Most sealers leave behind a shiny film. If you're going easy on shimmer and using a sealer, make sure the chest, shoulder, arms etc... are sealer too, even if they have no makeup on as the whole body will take on the same effect - ie - matte body, vinyl face etc... you want everything to look as one.
Note: rubbing any part of the body even with waterproof makeup can remove it. so any crying (weddings) strict instructions to not rub the eyes, but pat.

As always, so informative. Big thanks for your recommendation re: Bobbi Brown Correctors. I stopped by the counter yesterday and they slapped some on one eye. Seriously, right over my existing foundation, concealer, powder, and God knows what else... Anyway, poof! the darkness was gone. It's a fabulous product and you just saved me tons of time and money searching through concealers to cover my circles. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Water resistant means it can keep out water forms like rain and might be able to keep out water in a pool for a short period of time where water proof means it can withstand large amounts of water for long periods of time.
Awesome list! I would also add Clinique Lash Power Mascara with Long Wearing Formula to the list - it can only be removed with hot water, and it stays put so well!

"People will be crying and touching themselves"....now that definitely brightened up my day! :) What would you say is the best full coverage waterproof foundation? I have alot of acne scarring & haven't a clue what foundation to bring on holidays that will help cover up & stay put! My skin is mostly dry but my nose becomes an oil slick in the summer.

The MUFE Aqua lip pencils are water proof but you can't use any lipstick or lip gloss on top. So client's who like a matte lip can use this product.

I have a request/suggestion: Do a video about your own biggest make up fails. You could use your own experiences from job as an example, maybe from the time you just started doing make up. I think that it would be a fun and informative video to watch ;)
This is so useful as I swim a lot and I don't have time to fuss after work, I don't care if everything comes off in the water its just my eyes afterwards. I take my goggles off and its freaky and I have to walk home like that, not even aliens would come near me. I will try and order the eyeliners as everything else is difficult to choose online. Brilliant. Ooh some new MUFE stuff I like the sound of. I had on a MUFE HD blish when I took my kids swimming, after getting splashed (alot!!!), I was surprised to find the blush still on my face when I went to dry my hair - result :-)
I have been wanting to know what the best water proof or water resistant make up was for the longest time. I'm an aerial silk and trapeze performer and I get so sweaty during a routine that I have often have had my make up melt or run in places. Thank you so much for this amazing comprehensive list. in the bottom bar when you mention the sealers i think you mean skin instead of shine! "...some leave shine to the shine..." just pointing it out so people dont get confused! love your vids x

my eyes water NO MATTER WHAT I do, using every waterproof liner out there. I am in dire need of the ultimate waterproof eyeliner that will not come off! not even for the waterline but just for the corners where the liner seems to always come off, what do you recommend for your brides or swimmers?
Great advices !! Seriously .. write a book please !! The Kryolan make up sealer I think it is very good and it has a lot of product for a very good price!

@GabbysMakeup he is not gay :) if you watch his previous videos, he did explain that he used to have bad skin when he was younger and played with makeup alot to hide his skin problem. that was when he fell in love with make up and worked alot on mature skin makeup as most of his practice models were mature women. he is amazing, i learnt alot from him over a very short course of time subscribing to him, now people ask me if i took makeup lessons before. yup from gossmakeupartist on youtube :P
@awleesha have you tried setting your eyeliner with eyeshadow? That usually does the trick in making it smudge resistant

After watching your videos I went out and got some MUFE products The HD powder, eye liner, and Smoky lash mascara. I want to get one of their foundations, but I have a question. I have a lot of redness from Rosacea and broken capillaries so would you suggest a yellow foundation or neutral? I've heard people say get a yellow foundation to cover red, but I have neutral undertones. I'm hoping you can clear this up for me. Your videos are amazing!!

I am wondering why there is no review on the Kett Hydro Proof, a waterproof, smudgeproof and transferproof makeup sounds amazing for long, busy days! Is it simply too strong for every day use?

Great Video! Is it okay to use something like the blue aqua sealer for everyday wear? I have very oily skin and live in a hot humid place and my makeup seems to wear off so fast. Would using it daily not be healthy? thank you!

hi! i've got a question! i want to buy either a primer or an hd foundation from makeup forever. i know that using both together brings the best results for a flawless complexion, but if i had to choose one, should i get a primer with any ol' foundation? or just get the hd foundation with regular primer? thanks and hope my question will be answered ^^
Wayne, can you do a review of lily lolo / silk naturals foundation. Silk naturals specifically as they have great reviews on makeup alley and I would really like to hear your opinion on it :) Btw great video!

Hi, love your videos very informative. I have just started using dinair airbrush make up for the first time after using lots of different foundations and I love it. On the other hand I wonder if you could help me. My skin it,s horrible still getting break outs, very oily and acne scars. Do you think that kett hydro proof will be any good for me, will it clog my pores and have you ever heard ot TSZ cosmetics (airbrush)

Hi Wayne can you please advice me on a foundation with no spf that I can use at night and want to take pictures and don't want to have a white/pale face thank you in advance.
i've been contemplating on buying the MUFE aqua black (#6 on your list) and because i have oily eyelids i am afraid it will transfer onto my upper lid like all gel liners do after 5 hours...will the MUFE aqua black be a good investment for me to try and will stay longer than 5 hours?

Is there an drugstore makeup that waterproof and works really good
Is it possible to actually sweat-proof makeup? I have no issues with 'splash proof' makeup for swimming, but it's the sweat that does me in. I go to a music festival every summer, and it seems like no matter what waterproof-24-hour-coverage or finishing primer-spray-powder-combo I use, my sweat disturbs the makeup from inside out. Any tips?
How do you powder waterproof foundations? Any powder will do?

@chaosbehindagun Hi there I'm not Wayne but I use waterproof mascara as well and LOVE the Andrea eye makeup remover pads, don't know if you've tried them or have access. They can be found in most drugstores and come in different formulas, but having tried them all I use the original formula, it's best. Be gentle though!
