It depicts the 4 nations but in reality, the creators have created this in order for people from different nations to see it and enjoy it. From Africa to India, from Greece to China, from Philippines to Chile everything is combined. A artistic success. Like Uncle Iroh has said: Understanding all nations helps understanding the world inside us and outside us. The ancient Mesopotamia ziggurats inspiring the Sun Warriors was very interesting. The fire temples of the Fire Nation resemble the fire temples from Zoroastrianism in Persia. The philosophy of the Sun Warriors also seems to be inspired by Zoroastrianism and other traditions with similar philosophies. The eternal fire of the Sun Warriors resembles the Zoroastrian fire temple in Yazd that has preserved the same fire for thousands of years. Fire Sages also seem to be inspired by Zoroastrian monks. On the Avatar wiki, it says Fire Sage Kaja that helped Avatar Roku master the Avatar State was named after a Persian word.
I like all of the inspirations from all over the world, Asia, and from Indigenous cultures. I like that the Northern Water Tribe's gate was inspired by the Panama Canal and the area around the Northern Air Temple is based off of British Columbia in Canada as well. The artists did a great job!

    And here was his outcome:
    Water Tribe: Italy and Greece
    Earth Kingdom: France
    Fire Nation: UK/Britain
    Air Temple: Germany
