One of about thirty types the various norsemen (who only became Vikings in title when they went abroad to conquer people) tribes used in the haameland, or homeland.
👍👌👏 Very well done! I'm really really glad and pleased that you didn't over-restored the blade (like a lot of TH-camrs unfortunately do). Because such an old hand forged piece never had a mirror finish surface (not even if brand new). Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health.
As an Icelandic viking, no, that is not viking at all. But you managed too catch the viking style. Well done! My forfathers would have been proud too use that!
I could swear I've seen this in type guides for Scandinavian archaeology. Are you sure this is more frankish? Now ill have to dig all my books out of the attic lol
Viking moving shield wall tactics used alongside the originals of this type rendered static shield defenses useless. Big ole turtle of shields with protected Vikings beneath it could walk safely right up to your line and poke you with a stick. Many military historians consider that tactic the origins of modern mechanized infantry tactics.
It is a known Viking style. Can't for the life of me remember its type designation number but you will definitely find this axe type in the history books. Its the precursor to bearded axes
Man you're killing me with that gorgeous but unprotected parquet wood floor!!! Aiy! That being said, your restorations are fantastic and you're very talented craftsman!
I didn't realise you had more videos so I want to watch the old ones to the updated ones. I wish you was in London UK because there is no one hear to fix knives iv got one broken ballisong that I bought when I was a boy I'm 43 now lol all the knives I own are illegal in London because of the blade lengths and where they lock we are not allowed a knife with a blade length over 3inches or a lock knife but my knives are all lock knives and blade lengths of 6gr8 inch knife

Excellent job my friend that's a great piece looks nice with the long handle on can't wait for the next one thank you bro stay safe and well my friend thanks again Brian
As a war weapon is assert it better serves to orient the handle so the "horn" is on top, pointing upwards when the bottom of the handle is down when held vertically so that the axe wielder can capture the enemy's weapon as it comes downward or from the lateral side, on its curvature, redirect it the enemy's weapon away from its original line of attack which leaves the cutting edge nearest to the enemy for parry, slash, thrust etc. This could also 'chop wood' but it is presumably not designed as a firewood axe. I would add that you test a mock battle with both configurations and find with is more pragmatic. Thanks
Nice work as always! Just FYI: the usual name for the etching solution is ferric chloride (not iron chloride). For some reason chemists like to make things more difficult.
Had me worried there when I saw the grinder come out but you did a great job buddy. Personally I would have left it and just ground down the top a bit to re profile the design but I like what you did too😊😊
Hey my man...great video. But as a ton of your commentors are saying I dont think that scandinavian or viking at all. To me it resembles a Frankish axe. Maybe look it up and see what you think? But again..AMAZING video. I loved watching it. you do great work.
It's a round handle...round handles allow the axe to twist during your swing, screwing up edge alignment... Just ask Forged in Fire...they HATE round handles.
Well my brother another great restore, like how you sanded the hole ,lol, glad to see you like things oily and slippery, hugs mate till next time oh where are you from.
I like your workshop very much. It is so real and not far fetched
Adds +5 to strength and +9000 to all coolness. Well done on the neo Viking type axe resto.

Beautifully done. I love how you kept the original forging marks. Looks awesome!
Oohh!! Come on!! I thought you were going to show us how you make dinner with it when you finished! I need a new recipe! 🤣🤣 Very well done!

Thank you!
It’s terribly relaxing to see the process thank u
Nicely done 😊
I love the ninja moves lol 😂
As an Icelandic viking, no, that is not viking at all. But you managed too catch the viking style. Well done!
My forfathers would have been proud too use that!
I wonder what you think about the fact that to me...it strikes more of a frankish axe look.
Do you think so?
But they would say to heavy to fight with 🤘🤘🇧🇪greetings from Belgium bro
I've seen that kind of blade in a few history books, it's typically found on Frankish wood felling axes.
I could swear I've seen this in type guides for Scandinavian archaeology. Are you sure this is more frankish? Now ill have to dig all my books out of the attic lol
Also ancient people would say ALL modern replicas are too heavy. Because it's the truth.
Love this restoration. What a cool way to bring a beautiful tool back to life and back to glory
Still wonder how many people that axe killed assuming it was used Long time ago

In today's lesson, we learn the value of even a fairly lightweight shield :) Very nice work on the axe!

Fantastic work. Love you style in restoring articles. Please keep it up thank you my friend
awesome job.. would look really nice on a wall.
Whether or not it is an actual historical Viking axe, it is still a nice restoration

Wow. Another great job. Nicely done. .. That was a lucky find for $8.00.
Looks very heavy battle axe and was never viking related but it would also be a nice gate bell nice done 🔔🔔👍👍🤘🤘
Great axe - great work! ⚒🗡🤺

That looks awesome
Man you're killing me with that gorgeous but unprotected parquet wood floor!!! Aiy! That being said, your restorations are fantastic and you're very talented craftsman!

You’re right. That was definitely not a factory made blade. That eye was folded and forge welded by the look of it. Well done, sir.
Thank you!
I love your restorations! ;DDD :D
The moment I'm always waiting for: "Well, folks..."
Always a good time watching your restorations. Another great one! A very intimidating weapon for sure!

Nice work and looks like a very fun ax.
if I had that axe, no one would dare to attack me xD
Your work is getting better over the videos, and I really like the handle by the way.
Looks like something out of Skyrim 😍
^_^
I seriously doubt that this is in any way viking related, but nice work nonetheless
Same dude
Yup facts it should be even rusted than what it is 👍🏼 but still a great video 🔥🙏🏼
My Scandinavian viking ass was disappointed it's not looking anything like viking :-/
That is really cool.

I did mine this way turned out great than I heated wax and dipped it except I didn't use sandpaper.

Wow! Really interesting and great restoration! I want this axe! ⚒🔨🔪❤
Will this smash through iron shield?
That was cool great handle on the axe

Interesting. When I bought it the seller said it's iron chloride but if you check the more information also that name have number "3".

I don't get it. Is that boiling the water or something else?
Greta job.
Wonderfull haxe
It’s similar to the vikings haxes

You can see where the blade portion and the body portion were forge welded after the rust was removed. There's a clear line in it.
