Hey there, Liron here!
Today we’re finally concluding our 3 vids series with this guide on drawing figures using SIMPLE 3D shapes!
Hopefully everything we practiced so far will fall neatly into place with this one ^_^
We’ll look at a couple of figures performing different actions, analyze the different parts of the body, and then draw them using the shapes we learned so far.
Photo references can be found here:

Key takeaways:
- Idle poses can be quite challenging to draw accurately
- Take your time to truly see where each shape is facing, AND how it relates to the shapes around it
- Use the ellipses trick for figuring out how to orient boxes
- Always remember - closer objects appear larger
- Slow & steady wins the race! Take as much time for analysis as necessary, before drawing.
- Bonus tip - if you’re struggling with a pose, it’s sometimes a good idea to re-enact it! This will demonstrate where the balance is, and what the model is feeling as they’re doing the pose. And it WILL help you with drawing it (:
Good luck! Let me know your questions below and I’ll be sure to do a follow-up vid in the future.

I stopped drawing in the past because I was stuck on this exact topic. I recently started again and this video was exactly what I needed back then thank you so much.
I just wanna say, you don’t have to worry about if you’re explaining it well. I’ve come back to drawing after about 24 years of stopping, I found the obsession again and out of all lessons available on TH-cam I keep coming back to yours. You teach very well, but the best teachers rarely see how good they are at it.
This guy changed my 3D knowledge.....
Dang this helped me, so uh I was kinda going down a spiral in my mind about how I’m not improving even if I started 7 days ago… and deciddd enough is enough and picked up my pencil and it relieve me of some stress about how I draw. Turns out I should stop neglecting the basics lmaoo
I used to draw back when I was a preteen, but because of trauma, I dropped it when i was around 16. I forgot most of what i knew, and now, with 20 years old, I am doing my best to relearn what i used to know and what i was yet to learn! my goal for 2024 is to go back to art, and your videos have been really helpful! you are such a great teacher, and i am thankful that your youtube channel exists and so many people can connect with art and knowledge for free!
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏😊
Go get it! ✏✍
I think your lessons are some of the best I've seen on TH-cam, yet TH-cam never suggested your channel to me in the 12 years since I took up drawing. It wasnt until I did a search for drawing shapes at any angle that your stuff came up. Thank you so much for these videos. I believe you touch upon the true basics of art and explain it with superb clarity and thoroughness.
Thank you so much! ☺️🙏🏼 Thats a huge compliment, hopefully TH-cam listens!! 😂😁
i love how the viewer can feel your passion and enthusiasm, its so contageos :) thanks for the vid!
Thank you 😁🙏🏼🔥
Wow, a really great lesson. Thanks Liron!
That was intense 🙂
I was having a hard time with oval heads and this was actually really helpful. You also do a good job building on that simple advice of "break it down into basic shapes" and actually explaining what that looks like and why.
Thank you so much for the explanation and tips!
I think people underestimate the usefulness of figure drawing and just go straight to anatomy. Understanding how stuff looks in 3D is sooo useful.
Awesome
Absolutely fantastic, thankyou
I'm so happy i found this! mannnn thank you!
I'll go check out the part 1 and 2
Liron, thank you so so so SO much I can't thank you enough you have no idea! These videos on 3D and structure are saving my art and pulling me out of my burnout and art block 🥳🥳❤️ having fun wrapping my mind around all of this, THANK YOU SO MUCH
wow this is beautiful and amazing
Amazing teaching. I'm really learning a lot about what questions you ask yourself when you look at a part of the body, before you start drawing. I'm realizing how important that is.
Thankyou for sharing so much information, very helpful.
You're pretty awesome for how much you offer to people who want to learn. :)
This video is GOLD!!! I just smashed that subscribe button!!! Thank you for doing what you do! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
This video and your channel has changed my life (for the better) ❤
Thank you so much 🙏😊 Hearing this means a lot to me
Excellent teaching. And thanks for the reminder about the bean. More tips on gesture drawing would be welcome!
Your tutorial helps me a lot!! I have practiced a few times using the technique you showed in the video and it works very well til now❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It was really great. The reference photo is great
Good job! Even if I (should) know all of this, watching this video was so refreshing and interesting as always.
Thank you so much!!!!!
A lot of respect and love. You are a really nice teacher... 😊
You lost me. You had me. You lost me … but I stuck it out and I’m happy I did! Thanks, Liron 😉
Thank you
This was so helpful!!! I cant wait to try all the tips and knowledge I gained!! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Will check out “the bean” as you recommended.
it was really helpfull god bless you brother
Hi Liron 🥰
you're absolutely right, there are many people who have no knowledge in anatomy but can draw compellingly because the fundamentals are correct
(:
Thank you Liron! This was so interesting. I haven’t done many figure drawings - yet. This explains how you get them to be so accurate.
I’m curious to know - if you were making a painting of a figure, would you start this way on your watercolor paper and then paint over it?
Or would you do this on separate paper and then somehow transfer the final drawing onto your good paper? Thank you again.
I would have probably skipped this altogether and focused on gesture instead (: Or do a very very basic and loose version of this directly on the watercolor paper
Thanks for your reply. I really like watching your videos. I saw on your Instagram post you mentioned Discord. What is that?
Well done, I do mostly drawing and color pencil, no watercolor ( maybe I should) but I enjoy your channel .
I know this method but this was a fun, and clearly explained lesson.
Maybe add dotted lines to the unseen part of say back of leg of dynamic man . Thank for your efforts, Tom. usa
I cant grasp the way your able to see the torso and pelivis in 3d. I look at the picture for the torso and pelvis i dont see it in 3d both body parts are facing forward, just slighty tilted, but i see a normal square.
I got the same berserk and death note omnibus nice 💯
Niceee 🤩 That DN omni is so good, I think I’ll re-read soon (:
Berserk’s so awesome too, wish we’ll somehow get more chapters 🥺
@@LironYan I was thinking the same thing re reading death note and yea hopefully it ends how the creator wanted it to for berserk
If I want to learn drawing the figure - should I start with this or with learning general proportions?
Like the loomis figure that is eight heads tall etc.
Is it more valuable for me to start drawing figures using the shapes from reference pictures, while not really knowing the distances etc? Just measuring them from the reference instead? And then after a while going into that area of practice?
My end-goal is to be able to draw figures from imagination.
I really enjoy your videos and learn from it could make a video to draw quickly especially potrait like this guy Devon or a secret
Thanks
I have a few of these, but will film more 😊🙏🏼
Hi, in 18:43 , you mentioned previous video, which is the specific name of that video? I would love to learn more about it before jumping to this video. Thanks!
Found it!!!
Sir i have a question
I saw few TH-cam videos and a man draw people's sketch in just few min
Is it possible to draw people's sketch on the spot in just 5 min?
🗿
😂😂
ANTI AD BLOCKER RESTRICTS ME FROM YOU !!!!!

Not sure how that would happen, my apologies 🙏
