Kaya is a common dessert ingredient in Southeast Asia. It is made by heating coconut milk, duck or chicken eggs, sugar and cream over water and scooping it out. Kaya is often used to spread bread, make cakes, make fillings for sandwich bread, etc.! Not sure why you call that food your husband, but it's cute! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful day! 👍🤩🙏
I m from Penang but staying in KL now. I always love to watch videos of foreigners visiting Penang & their impression of it. The kopitiam boy did not explain what kaya is properly to you. It is a local preserve..like jam...but made from coconut milk + eggs + brown sugar..in this instance, pandan leaf extract is added..hence it is called pandan kaya & it is sweet & creamy. Hope u like it.
The Trishaw uncle really informative and knew so much of history. You should highly recommend him to other tourists who love to try trishaw and history about Penang. He speak english very well too. Unbelievable he knew all the year of every property and historical buildings 👏👏👏

Welcome to Malaysia! This is a wonderful Vlog. Sorry about having to see the soup kitchen. We do have social problems such as homelessness too, and these soup kitchens show you the reality of homelessness in Malaysia, not just in Penang. They are seniors that some of them have bad experiences, and lose their homes, and they rely on food donations sometimes to get by...not all. Some work for themselves, however they can
Tim... I notice you still dont organize your currency. you can organize by denomination or size. The larger the value, the larger the notes are. Purple, Grey, Orange, Red, green & blue = 100, 50, 20,10,5 & 1
Welcome to Penang... because you like nature.. try climbing bukit bendera via heritage trail (near the hill train station 1-2hrs ) or moongate (near botanical garden 2-3 hrs), there are 71 trails but these two are famous climbing trail. There is also pantai Keracut Beach in Taman Negari (State Park) where you have to use a 1-2hrs trail.
8:51 - Pandan trees are also widely planted in Malay homes and the leaves are often used in the production of traditional Malay cakes and foods and are also mixed in certain drinks. I like to put pandan leaves in hot tea. Pandan leaves produce a fragrant and refreshing smell. It is also used in home fragrance products. It's a bit long to type the recipe to make "kaya" but you can search on the internet by typing in Malay "Cara membuat kaya Pandan". If you typing in English, internet will refer "Kaya" to else because other then refer to a kind of jam, "kaya" mean rich in English language. 😅
Georgetown itself is a living museum for me personally. This is the town with the most museums in Malaysia! Except the traffic congestions all over, I really enjoy the old architecture, the street food and the culture.
24:11 - Captain Francis Light (year 1740 to 21 October 1794) was the founder of the British settlement in Penang which also meant colonization. Hundreds of years ago, Penang was part of the state of Kedah.
dont forget to visit Lorong Nostalgia by this night...known as nostalgic street in english, lots of old school stuff at tge, got some food clothes also souvenier and else. other place also nice to visit, penang hill, kek lok si temple (pagoda), rope walk, eat nasi kandar (nasi kandar sulaiman), komtar tower, macalister roadstreet art (nice view at days)
Malaysia is the biggest market for BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi and VW in Southeast Asia. Once Malaysians become richer, they buy German cars as luxury marques Btw, you actually do not have to pay twice at restaurants with several stalls in it. The back portion is normally the owner of the shop and they sell drinks and the occasional toast. The stalls sell all the other food. So you have the choice to choose whatever drink or food you wish to eat and pay only for the food or drink you eat. Its the same concept in Malaysia and Singapore.
Finally, you are in Penang, the foid paradise of Malaysia. The 3 wheeler is called a trishaw. A very old mode of transport usually driven by Chinese immigrants in the olden days. What 😱you have never tried kaya toasts with half boiled eggs? They are everywhere in Malaysia. Penang is the origine of nasi kandar. Its also famous for its Penang Asam Laksa, char kueh tiaw with duck egg and cendol. You should google about famous Penang food so that you got to try them where are famous for.
St George Church is the oldest function church. St Peter church in melaka is the oldest Catholic church and St paul Church in melaka is one of the oldest churches in asia
The murals are a tribute for firefighters. You're actually standing right beside the oldest fire rescue station in Malaysia before you ended the video.
What the trishaw rider is trying to tell you is that the 7th month in Chinese lunar calendar is the Hungry Ghost Festival Month. This festival is observed mainly in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Although the practice originates from China it's no longer practiced.
That is called a Rickshaw. In times past, a man used to run, pulling that carriage with a person or two in it. Can you imagine the stamina required to do that all day long?! What a way to make a living. 😬
What he meant was, it's the ghost month which is the 7th month in the lunar calendar. Those boxes contain clothes made from paper and these are burnt as offerings to the deceased relatives when the families visit their family graves.
Most of the local. Coffee shop brew local coffee and add. Milk 🎉sugar… etcetc… they will only give you instant coffee when you ask for it. Like if you ask for nescafe.

Okay, I didn't know about that. Thanks!
The 7th month in the lunar calendar is dedicated to the hungry ghosts. Basically it's souls which are forgotten or no one to pray for them
Yeah, the trishaw uncle mistakenly said 7th year, he tried to say 7th month.
