Wow, I remember all the names and kids from school. I had more fun than I realized. Band was a riot too and you guys kept it fun. Also, Peter Zolin is a blast from the past and was my best buddy at Beer Jr. High. Later it was laying down tracks with Jeff Scott and the boys at the studio recording for what seemed like non-stop! Great days!

Fantastic interview....every musician, regardless of whether they are a seasoned pro or beginner, can benefit from the wisdom and stories shared by Greg and Matt. Thanks for posting this. The major takeaway for me? The people skills...learn to check the egos at the door and treat others with respect. I've gotten so much work over the years by doing something as simple as that.

Great stories! I was at NTSU when you guys were there. Used to go watch Buster Brown in Dallas and was so blown away by the drumming! Greg actually played drums for my Jazz Improv 101 jury with Rich Matteson, Jack Petersen, and Dan Haerle grading my performance. I'll never forget that. My wife and I went to an Elton John concert awhile back and Matt was on bass. Thanks for all the great music guys.

Matt, you are sooooo lucky to have a brother like Gregg !!
I've got a brother just a year older then me, and he hasn't spoken to me in over 15 years, and I don't even know why. I'm a drummer and guitarist "now". I always wanted to be an artist & go to art school. My father laughed at me, and was not going to support my dream.
    Wish I had a do-over ! I missed out on so much.

I'm a guitar player and my buddy Jim was a bass player but he started before me... Me and him jammed together for years with a primitive drum machine... Best experience ever!!! By the time we started jamming with other musicians our timing was great!!! There's nothing that can replace playing live, you learn to think on your feet!!!

My brother learned to play in Prison of all places. He went on to play in many garage bands but never made it. My mother sang in bars when she was young. My third brother played percussion in high school.
You had a good musical family. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
As a side note, It seems to me that no one plays together anymore. Everyone seems to be recording their grooves separately and then sending them in to be mixed down. Perfection has ruined open creativity for musicians but I think people listening don't care. Everything has been done and perhaps the value has been diminished? Anyway I need to go bang on some drums. Thanks again.

It's hard for me to imagine Greg ever failing an audition. I got the opportunity to ask Tom Warrington the bass player for the Buddy Rich Memorial concert series.who out of all those drummers was his favorite to play with. He told me it was Greg. I wasn't really surprised. He is a special talent and everything he plays always sounds as good as it gets. So much fun to see them both talk about their history.

I must admit as a bass player I was always jealous that Matt got all these great gigs. But now listening to this. I feel like you're more of a brother I never had. Thank you for this interview. I laughed so much during this interview. The kind of laughter you have only with a brother. Much respect Friend to the Low End.

My friend from the low end! Ha, thanks for the note! Man I get it, sometimes I see people and how they get gigs and I scratch my head and say “whatsup with that?” It definitely isn’t fair and mostly isn’t based on talent, but that basically sums up the music biz don’t it? I’m just thankful to be working period,,, I’m glad you got a few chuckles out of the interview, I rewatched a little last night and I can’t help but to laugh because my brother is so funny and we genuinely just crack up sometimes, I’m a blessed man to have him as a brother, but now I have another brother, from the low end, YOU! Take care buddy and thanks for reachin in, see ya

@@mattbissonette6693 thank you for the kind words my friend. And when I use the word jealous I mean it in a kidding sort of a way. In the bass community we are all brothers. I'm always just happy to perform in any sort of situation which is why I expanded into other instruments. But the bass is truly at heart and the core. We are about the same age but in my eyes you are a Four String Pharaoh. I'm happy for you and you are a stellar representative of our craft.

Hey man I was just listening to the Red Coats... Sweet solo. Did I hear a little Jeff Berlin influence... Commanding execution! Now it's time 4me to stop listening and start playin.

      1. Do not light a bbq on a wooden deck
      2. Do not lay on top of a van that is making sharp left turns
      3. Do not set up your drums in a position where you see what's behind the bandstand.
