I'm really sad Canon doesn't allow third-party full-frame AF lenses on their mirrorless models unless you adapt them from EF, for which many new lenses aren't built anymore and using pancakes with an adapter would completely eliminate the benefit of pancake lenses. :( Nice lens though!
@@thomasfransson Can you tell if the hexagonal "aperture" on it is in front of the glass element or instead housed within the two elements? If just in front then I'm tempted to tinker once mine arrives!
As it was launched at IndieGoGo I'd suggest starting there to see if/what deals still might be available. (Link to the IndieGoGo is in the description)
I suppose there are people who want something like this but for me at least, it makes very little sense. If I am willing to carry my ff camera I am gonna be willing to bring larger lenses. For portability I am not going to take a large ff body, especially if I am going to compromise with a tiny fixed aperture lens with super basic optics. Taking my APSC compact camera is a much smaller compromise than this thing.
Absolutely, some will like it and the simplicity which can boost creativity, while others prefer a more traditional lens for what they shoot and/or don't see the point in changing things up at times. I did try it on an A7CII which made that whole setup extremely pocketable and whishing I had one of those bodies ;)
I meant this lens works just fine - arguably better on APS C with better corner to corner sharpness. it just happens to be acceptable on FF as well. It works for both. But as others have said, put this on an a7c, zv-e1 and its full frame imaging while drawing a lot less attention
Haha thank you, Scandinavia gets really depressing during the winter with only a few hours of daylight/day. If it's not overcast. Then it might be days without proper daylight.

True, I think they made a mistake there. Let's hope they open up RF
@@thomasfransson Canon doesn`t make a mistake, people who buy canon do.
Once i had Canon, never again.
Super nice! I've seen some people check sunstars on lenses by shooting at bright high street lights if that's any help.
That's a great idea, I should have tried that. Thank you.
I wonder if it's possible to open that thing up and remove the solid aperture they installed and if so, what it would do to the image...
I'm not sure if there's any regular aperture blades in there. Since it's a fixed aperture. Might have to break out the Dremel ;)

Looks like it's on the front.
Maybe you'll get more light but softer image
I bet you’re right. Not worth trying

If they add an L mount version every S9 owner on the planet will buy one.
Ooh! Yeah that's gonna be a sweet combo!
Only for Sony mount?
At the moment yes. They might add Z and L once the initial production is slowing down.

Doesn't get more pancake then that. 😊
Haha! So true
"I haven't been able to test this lens in sunlight because I live in Sweden" Ouch.
😆 it really suck. We will have a few more days here and there now. But entering grey winter which will last until May.
@@thomasfransson I wish you luck !
