Lobster & Steak - Teppanyaki in Okinawa, Japan

  • Visiting "Sam's Sailor" Inn, a restaurant chain I have previously visited. 3 years ago it was "Sam's Okinawa", about 5 minutes down the road. I suppose they have 20 or 30 chefs in total, surprisingly in a case of vertical synchronicity the same Teppanyaki chef like 3 years ago arrives to the table.
    For music copyright reasons, beach sound (recorded in Okinawa) had to be added, the video without the tide rolling in:

    I lived on the island of Okinawa for two years, what a wonderful place. Their culture is so unique and pristine with slight nuances to the Japanese culture that you find on mainland Japan. I have fond memories and hope to revisit one day when I can afford to revisit. Thank you for the video

    Okinawa is famous for pork dishes, noodles and seafood. That juggling teppanyaki looks very American.

      It's because American culture influence is quite strong in Okinawa. USA only left Okinawa in the 70's

    I was based at Camp Hansen in Okinawa and I’ve never seen high end restaurants like these. The only high end food were fried rice, Yakisoba in Kinville.

    Wow that’s a lot of food! Much more than you usually get and the way the chef cooks it’s clear this place is lower on the quality scale from most of your other videos. One thing I always enjoy about your other videos is watching the way chefs treat the food with reverence and every move is made to give it the utmost care - its mesmerizing 8)

    Is this Teppanyaki chef or a Tom Cruise 'Cocktail' fan? Either way I'm jealous of how easily that knife cut the pepper up. Nothing I have is that sharp, even immediately after sharpening. And after all that I have an urge to visit Hawaii.

      @@jamesg8246 Ah, I see. I just watch because it's so visceral. I cook so I guess I know enough of what's going on. I watch a lot of foreign videos with different languages and after a while you pick up a thing or two of the language. I find these as educational as they are immersive.
