The best city destruction scenes of the Godzilla franchise come from the films where he doesn't fight other monsters. That's not a slight on those films and there are obviously exceptions, but that typically seems to be the case since those films usually have more of an emphasis on the city destruction.

You can't beat the number 1 spot, it is the most iconic destruction scene ever.
I'm surprised the destruction of Boston in Godzilla: KOTM wasn't on the list, but you got Hong Kong in Godzilla vs Kong which is a good alternate, I personal prefer Boston's destruction because it involved all of the Titans and was more large scale.
I'm also a bit disappointed that the first Tripod attack in War Of The Worlds (2005) wasn't on the list, yes it's not as large scale but it is still terrifying, although that could just be because I have a huge bias for that movie, as it was one of the first ever movies I watched, and my favorite movie of all time.

I was surprised at my reaction to that scene. I felt left out that my home city didn't get the same treatment as NYC and LA, so I was looking forward to it. But for some reason seeing a part of town I'd worked in for years getting turned into rubble had me going. "Oh. No. Do not like."

I have to say these are some good destruction scenes of cities. Some of them admittedly very dark or rather most of them if you ask me. Actually I like the Michael Bay movies though I've only really seen the Transformers ones. I remember my jaw dropped at that Dark of the Moon scene cuz I was like if only they didn't send the Autobots (and consequently got in a trap which blew them sky high) away this never would have happened. Only to find out they survived and I was like oh thank Jesus what a relief

  • @aycaramba18

I think number one should be the scene in the 1968 classic Destroy all Monsters where Rodan, Godzilla, Manda and Mothra destroy Tokyo. Because of this scene we have the scenes in modern movies where multiple monsters destroy a city. But my opinion, so.

Well to be fair The Day After Tomorrow is super unrealistic. Even worst case scenarios aren't going to create massive storms that will suck cold air down from the upper atmosphere and somehow usher in a new ice age lol That being said, it'd be nice if more people took climate change seriously before the shit really hits the fan though.
