OH MY GOODNESS IT'S MY PAINTING!!! Thank you for showing it off! I was completely blindsided and ecstatic to see it here!!! I asked if she'd wanted to paint the Andromedae Galaxy, where my books (Date of Decommission) are based out of, and she was so professional and completed the painting beautifully!!! I'm so proud to have a little part in this video and I'm going to cherish it and my wonderful painting forever

Phoebe being 16 just shows how long this channel has been around.
I always cut off the dome on my cakes and then flip them over so I get a perfect crumb free top. It makes it easier to frost and it's perfectly flat. In this case it would highlight the Mickey Mouse shapes too.

I was going to comment this too, but I went with chameleon instead and then forgot about the cake orientation 🤣 I always flip them too, flat base for the top and fewer crumbs when decorating
I think this is pretty basic knowledge for most people with even a slight interest in baking - just not this clown who has been making a living from this for some years now
Definitely my go to as well! Specifically I'll sandwich the cut edges together on a layered cake so that the edge doesn't drag at the bottom of the cake either.

That tiny ice tray is great for putting butter with chopped fresh herbs to add to dishes. I've used it to make a bunch of cubes with tarragon, oregano, rosemary, thyme, garlic, ginger, parsley.
Kind of freaking me out how Phoebe is 16 now! I was 13 when I started watching your videos and now I'm 24 lol.

Man they grow up fast don't they? My oldest daughter is about to turn 18 and I feel old. I can't believe my baby will be all grown-up. My youngest will be 10 so I'll have some more years but I know it'll fly by. Phoebe has really grown into a beautiful young lady and so creative, keep it up girlie.
I'm not huge on sponge holders, but those are "totatly awesome man".

Gah it's wild to see how long I've been following the channel and your family. From watching the vlogs and seeing new kitchens being built, now to little tiny babies as 16 year olds. It's astounding how fast time flies by. I remember when Mrs. B didn't even like being on camera, and now I look forward to all the kitchen hack testings! It just blows my mind to think it seems like yesterday I found you, but in reality you're one of the first channels I ever followed religiously on TH-cam. Thanks for all the fun times and laughs Barry, and I look forward to years and years more. You're still as entertaining as the first day. Cheers!

I’ve just saw the first episode with Phoebe and the carrot sharpener. Now she’s all grown. Watching your kids grow up doesn’t half make you feel old.
One of my favorite things about this channel has always been how it has been a family thing. It's great to see Phoebe again, and wow, sixteen! Where does the time go? Best of luck to her with the art and everything, and I had to laugh when she asked if the cake tin had been greased. (Also, kitchen scissors are amazingly handy! I never would have thought of that but for this channel, so thank you, Barry, for such a great tip!)

The problem with the plastic "bear claws" is that they can't handle even reasonable heat. You use it to shred a pork butt off the smoker and you'll end up with melted bits. Such a letdown. :(

Barry, I use a ice cube thing that takes up the whole of one freezer tray, so it's huge which is a downside. But it is 4 trays that stack, and it creates tiny ice spheres which you then empty into a big container! I was worried being smaller ice pieces they would melt faster, but I use a Chilly's water bottle and as long as enough are in there, they last ages! But the reason I got it is cause of my Chilly's water bottle, I struggled to get ice in it, yet they just slide right through the opening with ease! Also like you sometimes I enjoy crunching on the ice after haha

@@AndromedaeRD honestly her skill at her age and how far it has come along already is incredible! Like her use of textures, colours, brush strokes, her blending, her depth and layering, it's just insane! I can't imagine what she will do further along! Like when you go from the art of the toaster, to Boston, to that galaxy? I am glad you have a beautiful piece of art to display :)

Seeing that ice cube thing reminds me of how they made the coloured buttons on original Star Trek, they used ice cube trays with coloured resin which were then glued onto plastic panels and lit from behind (aside from the ones that needed to blink, in which case they just stuck lightbulbs inside them!)... :P
Pheobe shaking her head at our generation's slang is the universal experience of conversing with kids 😂
I use my mini icecube tray for my cat treats in summer. I put in all sorts of stuff: cat milk, cruncy treat, flavoured yogurt, tinned fish etc. Also you can use the spring water in the tinned fish as a liquid (or frozen) treat esp if your pet avoids water. (Dont use the salted water!)
My one cat can get quite hot, even though he has short fur so these go down a treat.
Somewhere I read that non-stick (and silicone, btw) needed to be seasoned, but I have no clue how.
I have such a hard time getting ice out of silicone molds! Tiny ice = watery drink, but that might be useful in some situations, like with alcohol or coffee.

Barry is one of the only TH-camrs that I could watch testing whether ice makes a drink cold or not 🤣 just made me chuckle when he said "yeah, that's cold" 🤣
I think you could make the mickey mouse part the top of the cake by leveling the top and flipping it. Grease it well enough it comes right off, and then brush a thin layer of lemon icing on the design. The icing would settle into the mickey design and make it look decorated and intentional and then it would be a lovely lemon cake.

the cake form sounds fun, but is indeed a novelty. You won't see that part of the cake.
And the egg spatula might be something for me, but then, I can do fine with a regular spatula. And I flip them over because I want my yolk slightly thickened, not super runny, but also not hard. But the most important part is I don't like burnt egg white. And by flipping the yolk gets a bit more heat.
The sink filter is for regular size sinkholes :), but your's is indeed the big one that I usually see in more industrial kitchens.
The drain gecko is cute, but almost a waste considering what it has to lick down the drain.
The peeler is fine, but I prefer those with the blade parallel to the grip.
And the Homer Simpson sponge holder is great. The Spongebob one not so much, as soon as the sponge is used, it will look hideous.
The cheese slicer is also great. Those things work great. The cat whisk on the other hand won't last. I tend to somehow destroy whisks with time. At some point the individual metal bars just start coming out.

I have the flamingo sink strainer and the frog one from the same set. Work great for catching food waste etc in a normal sized plug hole.

0:55 Water expands when frozen, Barry. Without some leeway there, once it's frozen all into ice, the lid could stop fitting proper. I had that problem with my last set of ice molds.

If you want the top of the egg to fry without flipping it or using a special gadget, you can just put a bit of water on the top and put the lid on the pan so it simmers.

I absolutely agree that kitchen scissors are underrated. I struggle with cutting with a knife and fork due to hand pain, and kitchen scissors have made cooking so much easier for me!
