First 38 lives to spare one, and then an entire village at the expense of that mercy, and then an entire bandit ring all over again?! I think it was Saladin just getting The Wolf Crest back. It was like him finishing the new seasonal artifact quest, and getting the base XP before being able to slot his new passive mods.

This is a fable, designed to show a simple lesson through a story and it deals with one philosophical basis of society itself. Similar to an Adam Smith quote, “Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.” I was reminded of this cutscene after watching a video about it. Why is justice dispensed and what is the reason behind punishing criminals? Obviously this is a pretty different moral situation between the story itself and the psionic warfare tactics being debated in the season story, but still it is a pretty similar concept where mercy can have serious consequences if given to the undeserving.
