    This is one of the best shotcut tutorials I've seen, no stalling, no asking for likes and subscribers, and just gets straight to the point and point out every button. before I was doing it the hard way on shotcut, but this is gonna make my fanfic stories a lot more easier to produce, I wish there were more transitions like a horizontal flip transition, but either way, great video!

    Great stuff, I am new to shotcut.... I spent ages manually doing one then found out easy it is as per your vid'. Shame there isn't an option to reverse the zoom on selected images... just to break it up a bit rather than the same zoom in effect on every foto. I tried changing the keyframes (reversing the figures) on some but it goes to pot due to the transition being there.

    • @Graphicious

      Looping is something that the player is responsible for. Whatever platform you upload the video to, has to do the looping, if it supports it. You can't create a video file (mp4 or other) with a loop functionality in it. It's not supported.

    This works great! Question: my photos will have varying aspect ratios and it is resulting in the tops of heads being cropped off on some photos. Any suggestions on an easy fix for this that I can apply to lots of photos to try to take care of most of them in one fix? Then I'm sure I might just need to eliminate the ones that are difficult to fix since I'm dealing with hundreds of photos.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think Shotcut has any more options for customising the look apart from what you see in the slideshow dialog. It would probably either be manual OR fix the image aspect ratios externally before bringing them into your slideshow. Lots of tools out there that do automated cropping or resizing.

    • @TheMadisonReport
      @TheMadisonReport 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Graphicious - thanks! I played around with IrfanView since that's what I am familiar with. They do have a batch conversion feature. It works but not well, unless I just haven't figure out the right settings.
      I think what I really need to do is just do something with the portrait photos to turn them into landscape with black boxes on either side. Then I don't have to worry about an auto-crop cropping something incorrectly with varying photos. Now I need to figure that out.

    • @TheMadisonReport
      @TheMadisonReport 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Graphicious - I found a solution in IrfanView in the Advanced settings of Batch Conversion. The option is to change Canvas Size and I added a left and right border that was 1500 pixels each. • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried JFIFs, and I don't think you need to compress the images first. Maybe if your computer has trouble playing them in Shotcut, could do with a resize but I like to have mine at the highest quality. When you export your video, they get resampled to the video size anyway.
      And Shotcut doesn't add watermarks or ads, it's a free, open source app.

      Thank you! I have not used kinemaster before but it seems to me like you are doing much more work than you should. I don't think video editing is optimal on a phone. I found the MED sport channel and it seems that their videos are mostly a bunch of slideshows with various transitions, plus some intro animation and overlay text at the beginning. I think you can achieve similar stuff with the details in my video, for Shotcut, using the automated slideshow. You can also create them manually, of course. I also use Camtasia a lot, it's very easy to learn and you can produce similar stuff. Good luck!

    Explanation of important details not mentioned in other tutorials. I still have an important question: How do you proceed if you have added photos using the "Add to slide show" function and subsequently edit them (e.g. change the display duration, transitions or dynamic zoom of individual images, etc.) or new source material (photos or videos) between those already in the timeline want to insert existing photos? All my attempts in this regard have so far caused chaos in the course of the video editing.

    This is a very good tutorial but I have two questions! Is there a limit on the amount of pictures you can put on one slideshow. I have 260 all taken in Copenhagen, and how can you burn everything onto a DVD-R at the conclusion!

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I haven't tried to push the limits on how many images you can use, but I guess it would be something up to the power of your computer. I assume the more you add, the harder it's going to have to work to compose that sequence for you.
      As far as DVD export, in the Export dialog there are several DVD export options for video, PAL, NTSC, etc. and those will create a VOB for you, which you'd have to burn to DVD using a DVD burn tool for finalize it.

    • @kennethhodges3187
      @kennethhodges3187 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to change the defaults on the slideshow settings so I don't need to keep changing them every time I add another batch of photos? (duration, transition, etc.)
    With hundreds of photos, Shotcut can't handle that many at once without crashing and I'd like to be able to add to the slideshow in batches as I go anyway. Thanks for the help!

    • @TheMadisonReport
      @TheMadisonReport 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OK, I figured it out. Sharing here. It is critical that if you have photos that are different aspect ratio than what shows on the screen, that you fix this BEFORE building a slideshow. Once you bring the photos in, it's too late. Even landscape photos can be the wrong aspect ratio, depending on the camera used. For mine, the digital camera I was using was 16 to 12. To set this, it's in Settings, Video Mode, Custom and then type in the resolution and aspect ratio for the photos you are bringing in. Then I think that if you switch to different photos with different aspect ratio, you can then switch again (like when my photos switched from a digital camera to a smart phone).
      This still won't fix the problem of portrait vs. landscape photos. That requires adding a border or something to compensate. My fix is that I'm just avoiding the few portrait photos I have whenever possible. And then fixing the ones I really want.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a good workaround but you still have to pay attention to the images you bring in. While defaults cannot be set on this tool, I always make sure that the photos I bring in are in the 'acceptable' range for the final slideshow I try to produce.

    • @lesliebeck8382
      @lesliebeck8382 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Graphicious - absolutely. Getting them in that acceptable range in another tool like Irfanview is a lot easier than trying to fix it in shotcut. Then shotcut works wonderfully for pulling it all together in a slideshow. I just wish it wouldn't crash on me so often. I save often to avoid heartache.

    • @Graphicious

      Good idea. It can be a bit glitchy at times. It might have a memory leak or something like that, which becomes more apparent when you use a lot of images.

    Hi, Is there a slideshow maker that can CONTINUOUSLY RANDOMISE a set of slides on a continuously repeating loop, without repeating a randomised order. So what I want is a continuously repeating loop that doesn't repeat the randomised order, but instead continuously randomises the photo sequence for as long as the program runs. I.e. One hour - 20 hours or whatever! If you can let me know of a slideshow maker that can do this or otherwise let me know how I can achieve this effect, I will be very grateful. Thanks, Michael

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are looking at a tool that just takes a folder of photos and runs a slideshow on them plus put some music in the background, if that's what you want. I think even the basic Windows Photo viewer can do a slideshow like that with a random order.

    • @micridg
      @micridg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Graphicious Hi, thanks so much, but I don't just want a random order that can be repeated in a loop. I.e I select random and I am given a random order for my photos. I then select loop which will repeat the same random order over and over again for as long as I want. I DONT WANT THAT! What I want is a random order that continuously remains random and unpredictable for an indefinitely long period. I want to be able to run the slide show for any length of time and for the photos to appear in a continuously changing sequence that doesn't repeat a previous sequence for as long as I run the show, which could be any length of time at all. I have subscribed by the way. :-)

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, this slideshow creator just places the photos on the timeline with the desired duration and adds the transitions. You are then free to move them and change them but it may remove the transitions for those particular ones, so you may have to re-do them. But it's a great tool for giving you a head start in arranging a slideshow.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you try resizing the images externally before adding them to the Shotcut timeline/media bin? Maybe they are too large, make them 1920 x 1080 (or whatever maximum your video is), and see if it works. Maybe you're hitting a memory limit. Also helps to update to the latest version of Shotcut. Also, if nothing works, try reducing the transitions, instead of Random, if that's what you're using, use a simple one, and see if there's maybe a problem with the transition or one of the transitions being applied.
