  • A jury ruled the deaths of 48 people in the Stardust nightclub fire as unlawful killing. The jury in the inquests into the 1981 blaze in Dublin delivered the verdict on Thursday.
The fire in the Stardust nightclub, owned by the Butterly group, in Artane on Valentine’s Day in 1981 is considered the worst fire disaster in Ireland’s history. Investigations showed that a number of escape routes from the dance hall were blocked because emergency doors were locked by chains. Despite findings of safety breaches, there were no prosecutions.

Can't believe this ,the time and pain ,who in power can let this go on for decades .it is a joke and I feel many should be accountable, not apology needed but serious consequences ,but the powers are amazing at getting away with things .like they are in it together, to cover there mess.

An nobody went to jail 40 years later the people are recognised a sad day for justice in that it took them so long for a ruling. Even sadder the state colluding in a cover up

I was 19years of age when this horrific event happened,The apology from Harris is 43 years too late, Successive Governments tried to put every obstacle in the way of the absolutely brilliant Families who kept the campaign going, If this horrific fire had happened in blackrock or Dalkey it would not have taken 43 years,im listening to Harris and his words mean absolutely nothing all hot air as usual, finally the fantastic women and men who lost there loved ones I ABSOLUTELY SALUTE YOU FOR GETTING SOME JUSTICE,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
