We are a family of 6 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! Oh my heart. I can’t believe it’s been a year since the adoption. My favourite thing from back when Olivia came into your lives was Bert saying “I’m wearing the shirt I wore to the birth of all my kids”, the most beautiful and precious thing to say. Much love to you and your family this Christmas.
Congratulations on the celebration of sweet Olivia ❤. I am 58 & was adopted at 18 months old. Years & years later, our Pastor's wife at that time asked if we should pray that my biological family would find me. I was like, "Oh, yeah! I'm sure they'll be beating down my door after all these years 😂". She prayed & exactly 2 weeks later on a Sunday morning, I received a call from my bio brothet 😮- We met & went on a road trip to meet our bio mom & 1/2 brother in Michigan & then to meet our bio dad, stepmom & 3 half brothers in North Carolina. I also found out that I had cousins thst I had known & gone to church with. Although happy to have gone on that journey, my TRUE family is the one who I was loved & raised by. Olivia is loved and will always know that ❤ Merry Christmas, Somers family!
I was adopted too but sadly, only found out seven years ago. This whole adoption journey for the beautiful family just warms my heart. Olivia is one VERY lucky little girl for sure to have landed into such a wonderful family.

I was adopted at 6 days old, and we celebrate just my birthday. I cannot remember when I was told, but always knew I was special until I could understand what adoption meant. My mum and dad are my mum and dad, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, I have been blessed. They are still with me at the ages of 91 and 88 and I couldn’t love them more than I do. You are all so blessed, enjoy everything that comes your way. The making and recording of memories is so important. You will look back on milestones and be so grateful. Happy Christmas all ❤️ xx

We adopted our two boys from foster care at the same time. I prayed that they would move in by Christmas so we could spend the holiday as a family. Then the Lord answered that prayer and they moved in with us permanently on Dec 19th. So every year we celebrate that day by decorating cookies and I give them each a photo album of the year. We talk about how God answered my prayer. Our hope is that they will not only feel celebrated, but remember God’s faithfulness for years to come because we have marked it with a celebratory tradition.

Merry Christmas, Somers family. We are an adoptive family that celebrates our boys’ Gotcha Days, Adoption Days, and birthdays all a bit differently. Birthdays are typical…gifts, cake, special outing or party. Adoption Day is usually a cupcake with a # candle, singing “Happy Adoption Day,” reminiscing about the day they officially became “ours,” looking at photos. Gotcha Day is more low-key…acknowledge & talk about the importance of that day, what we as parents felt & experienced. We weave in to all of it acknowledging bio Mom’s role in bringing our boys into our family. 💕

Forty years ago we adopted a beautiful two month old little girl. She was born on Christmas Eve and that day is always a special one that we all celebrate. We also celebrate her adoption day which was 2 months later and brings with it it's own set of memories. As I am typing this, truth be told, I realize we celebrate every single day that she is part of our family. Her birth mother had given her the middle name of Joy and all these years later it seems almost prophetic. Congratulations on your first adoption day celebration, and we wish you many many more!
Your family never ceases to amaze me especially your love for God, your family and other people may God continue to bless you always. We need more love and kindness in this world and I think you both help encourage people to get out and do it I know you have me.

I can't believe it has been a year. We celebrate my husband birthday (in February) and adoption day (in October) every year. His family and his "additional families" love for him is the most amazing thing to witness. ❤
Two adopted (China and domestic) and one biological who are now adult children. We are always celebrated birthdays and “gotcha day” until they got married! We always focused on the positive of adoption not negative and we have three very well balanced children who we love beyond words. It doesn’t matter how they come to you - the love is exactly the same. ❤️

2 Emergency Adaptions, All because we answered the phone. Was looking to adapt but the list was long. Then a college age girl walked into a hospital gave birth, she immediately gave the child up to adaption, The Law Firm in this area, well known for handling these things, was contacted by the hospital. That Firm went into overdrive, late in the afternoon, trying to find a couple, from there "anxious to be parents" list, and we just happen to answer the phone. Got two baby boys that way. Roughly 3yrs apart.

She's grown so much in the last year, and definitely likes keeping up with her older sibs and now with a cousin almost her same age to play with.
In our family we have 14 children and 11 of them are adopted.❤ We celebrate birthdays, but do not celebrate adoption days. I always thought an adoption day was also their "gotcha day", but I could have totally missed the mark on that one! Our adoptions don't have to be open, but we believe that the more love a child can get the better for them. Some of our adopted children's family have even adopted us and our other children as family. It really has been such a wonderful experience!
After loosing 11 children , I have a wonderful son that I adopted when he was 11, he is now 18 and such a amazing young man
I'm 54 now but was adopted at 10 days old. My bday is the day I was born and the day I was taken home by my adoptive parents was called my Special Day. We celebrated both. My parents bought me a Madaam Alexander doll collectible every year until I was 18.

My best friend was adopted, she and her family (all) celebrated her birthday, but just Mom, Dad, Sister, and her celebrated her gotcha day, with a simple (special) dinner. They add a charm to a bracelet one for her and one for her Sister. They pick something from that year. Very cool.

Happy adoption day! We celebrate adoption day for our 16 year old. We celebrate her birthday October and adoption day in December! We got her when she was 11 so we have missed a lot and we love to celebrate whenever we can!! ❤

One of my grandsons is adopted. My daughter and her new family celebrates Eli's actual birthday which was 2 months early. He was born at 2lbs so he was in the hospital for months. They àlso have a famiy day celebration which is the he came home from the hospital. They.usually take a 2-3 vacation. somewhere. He is as much a part of our family as all of my other grandbabies. Congratulations on your new family member.
My sister and I are both adopted (not blood related). Growing up we celebrated our birthday (the day that we were born) and our ‘Welcome Home Day” (adoption day). Birthday was always birthday parties with friends and family. Welcome Home Day was celebrated just as a family.
