This show looked incredible. I’m really jealous of the people there. I can’t believe it was a free show. I don’t think it gets any better than stone temple pilots. Dean Deleos guitar sound is so amazing and Robert Deleo on bass is so underrated . Eric on the drums was so solid and not incredibly fancy but was perfect. He gave tons of space for the guitar and bass. And Scott Weiland was one of the greatest front man ever. He had one the coolest versatile voices in rock.
Wow! I was at this show. I remember leaving campus at UM and someone told me they just heard STP was about to play for free on South Beach. A couple people jumped into my car, we drove down there and watched them put on an amazing performance for free on the beach. The Best.
I was teaching at MDC at the time. I heard about it, and cancelled my evening classes. that was nuts. My brother and i were so close, that he picked up Dean's slide.
Thank you so much and God bless you a million times for posting this great and precious concert video. I truly believe the world is a better place with people like you posting concert video and that it was even recorded in the first place. I can't believe this was over twenty years ago.
I was there with my brother and a friend. I was a professor at the time, and it was the ONLY time i ever cancelled class. It was insane. Maybe 200 ppl there, on the sand.
I was right up there front and center...up until about 30mins before the concert started, the place was pretty empty...maybe 100 people...then it got packed up pretty quick.
I was at that FREE LIVE show on South Beach... was right up front towards right of the state. It was unforgettable being able to look up and literally see them so close. Will never forget that Free show on South Beach :)... thx for publishing it
I love this video!! These small shows that STP did are some of my favorites to watch. I was never able to see them like this and am grateful to people like you that share these amazing moments. Man, what I wouldn't give for one of those towels, lol!! Scott was the best front man ever!!
Loved that concert.. literally heard about it a few hours prior on the radio.. got there an hour early and I was practically alone .. front and center.. finally people started showing up... it didn't get packed until they started.. love love loved it. 🤘
Thank you for posting this up and sharing with all the rest of us STP'rs who badly miss those glorious days of Scott & the boys tearing it up on stage. Even though they didn't really rock out as hard as they usually did... espcly during this tour, which in my opinion, contained most of their best performances/shows. More than likely was due to this being a free show which usually drew smaller crowds & minimum endurance in band's performance (which seemed to possibly be the case here). Still though, love gtng the chance to see this show on here. Once again, from 1 STP fan to another, I do thank you for posting this!
You are welcome. After Scott passed, I knew I had this tape someplace. I did find it, and did take the time to get it digitized and uploaded for other STP fans to enjoy. Thanks for appreciating!
I was working in a smoke shop near by....a guy gave me a flyer saying. Stp is playing right now on the beach or something like that. I closed the store and started to run with a lot of people. Im from argentina. I was 22. Waw. Thanks. I told the story and showed the video.

The concert name was "Unexpected COncerts in Unexpected places" sponsored by Toyota (I think)..I was at Doral on that Monday at 4pm. By 5pm I was in the front row (shoes full of sand). Unforgettable.

No cell phones, everyone just standing there watching the show, incredible, lol!
There were definitely cell phones in 2002 🙄 and handheld video cameras

Yeah, very intimate crowd. It was great.
STP at South Beach and it was free! Don't get much better than that.
I was there! Such a badass show!
Scott was just incredible at commanding that stage!💯

@R!OT EARTH Yes. It was a promotion for Nissan. The show was spread by word of mouth. Was at 6pm, right on the sand. 8th and Ocean.
OffshoreDreams me too
I was 18 when I caught this show. Hard to believe it's been that many years since then. I feel so old.

STP in '00-'02 was some of the best live rock band shows you could ever see. They were locked the fuck in!
Thanks for sharing. Great footage.
The best band ever... ok no 2 after the Beatles
