    What a cute basket. Not sure what I would use it for but might have to try and make one😊

      It's a fun one! I like using this to display bouquets of dried lavender or other floral arrangements.

    Should I assume sealing any store bought wicker or rattan baskets (or even those giant furniture pieces) should also be done to prevent molds even if used indoors. Didn’t even realize wicker material develops molds until I read the 1 star reviews on IKEA’s LABBSAL wicker cube baskets (5 and 4 stars don’t mention mold problems). I recently picked up a round wicker basket with lid from Marshalls for the purpose of a bedroom trash can, so I’m assuming I should seal it.

      It's probably a good idea, especially in a humid environment like a bathroom.

    I have a basket that seems painted or more like it stain, I don’t like the color, it is too dark so how can I get rid of the stain/ glaze? I would love to see the natural color!

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think there is a good way to remove a dark stain from a basket as it bleeds fairly deep into the fibers of the material.

    Is there a way to remove stain from a basket? I got one that’s dyed red and would prefer a more natural color.

    Does this clear finish have any shine or is it matte? I don't like the shine much but am thinking the oil may make all baskets shiny. I have a couple vintage baskets I'd like to work on. Thank you!

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a matte finish. Of course, when you select your product be sure it's labeled matte - as opposed to a gloss. I would also suggest, for vintage baskets, that you test the finish on the bottom before applying it to the entire basket. Good luck!

    Is it a good idea to apply this treatment to a valuable antique basket?

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not an antiques expert - probably obvious😊 - but I believe altering the finish on any antique object is frowned upon and decreases its value. You may want to contact a cultural museum in your area and ask to talk to a preservationist.

    Hi ! I hv humidity moisture in the air issue where cottonish white fungus grows on the baskets. So I had cleaned and dried the baskets and sprayed my sea grass ikea basket with clear wood lacquer Matt finish. However Can I give it extra protection with a coat of danish oil over it? Your reply is much appreciated . Thank you.

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have already coated the sea grass in a clear lacquer, it probably won't need another finish. I'm not positive, but I don't think danish oil will stick to a lacquer. It would end up being sticky.

    What kind of soap were you using?

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was using a goat milk bar soap a friend made. Something more natural like Mrs Myers Clean Day dish soap or an olive oil based soap works great because it doesn't totally dry the reed out like detergent based liquid soaps will.

    Can teabags be used to stain reed before weaving?

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never done tea on reed. Its a similar color, so may not show up much different, but its worth doing a scrap test in a mug of tea:)

    Can I email/message you to ask you how to change a willow white washed wheel I bought at pottery barn?

    • @TextileIndie
      @TextileIndie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I have never worked with willow as a material. I would suggest using the info in this video and testing a very small portion on the bottom - or another place that won't show. Or...you could buy a very inexpensive basket at a thrift store and test out the look you want to see how the material responds. Happy exploring!
