This is great! Finally a comprehensive video without the use of big workshops. Thanks for the informative links and giving me the feeling that I too can do this. Can relate!

Thanks! I thought the idea was "too big" when I first considered it and starting watching other videos, with large professional workshops. But I really, really wanted to try to build one. That's one concept that I hope comes across in the entire series. You don't need massive table saws and a big workshop to accomplish this. You just need to take your time and think through the design decisions so that they match your tool set... and more importantly, your skill and comfort level. I had never build anything of this scale before, but I learned a lot and ended up really enjoying the journey.
Thanks for watching and taking time to post a comment. I greatly appreciate it!

This is going to be a great series and really appreciate you taking the time to go through it!

Thanks. I decided to break it up into parts instead of one really long video so it might be easier to refer back to a particular segment at a later time. Future parts ought to be a little more informational than part 1 (I hope anyway)!
Thanks for watching. Part 2 (cabinet construction) is planned for release in a week.

@@ResinChemTech the breaking it up is a really great idea; I also appreciated the design decision part of this. I have tried to build controllers in the past and never put in the pre-work to get the design right which means you are never really happy with it. Your approach to doing it once is a good one!

this is great cant wait to see the whole build from start to finish. about 12 years ago i built my own arcade stick controllers using sanwa tech, would love to do something like this again but with a full arcade machine.

Thanks! Even though I built it four years ago, it has held up amazingly well and is still used on a regular basis. I'd encourage you to consider building your own... especially if you enjoy messing with tech and things like building your own controller. As you will see in the following segments, I try to stress that building a cabinet like this really isn't difficult, doesn't require a specialized workshop or tools, or any sort of programming or coding skills. For me, it ended up being one of the most enjoyable and satisfying projects I have ever done. The biggest skills required are patience and the willingness to think things through.
Let me know what you think of the remaining segments as I release them.

Nice overview and narration of project and parts select. I'm looking forward to the subsequent parts of the series.

can't wait to see the rest, would love to build my own.

Thanks. I think the future parts will be a little bit more interesting, but I felt like I needed to cover some of the design decisions that I made.. and why... before I started in on the construction itself. I hope to release a new part (I think there will be six in total) each week.
I honestly thought I was getting in way over my head. But honestly, with just some basic tools and knowledge, I think anyone could build one of these cabinets. In my opinion, planning and patience are the two biggest parts of creating a successful cabinet.

I'm going to plan on building this, you've inspired me. Is there a an exact parts list of items you bought from Ultimarc? I assume you got the: 64 Channel LED controller with full brightness control. I'm thinking of building a replica of what you built with some basic improvements like a dual coin door, and maybe longer wiring. Enjoy your thoroughness.

Hi Paul! I'll talk quite a bit more about the control panel, parts, wiring and then the software control in the upcoming parts. Including some of the things I would have done differently... including a dual-coin door (it's like you've already seen the upcoming parts!).
I do have a list of all the parts that I bought from Ultimarc. If you like, I can send that over to you via email (I think we've exchanged emails in the past). You might also decide on a few other things that you want to do differently when you see the remaining parts of this series (6 parts in total... part 3 this Saturday, then each new part on the following Saturdays).
