Many thanks Andy, so sad to see the wet fields and some failed cropping. Good to see the restorations. Take care.

I find the drone perspective really interesting. I think I am a thwarted aviator!

Great job Andy. Such a waste of a beautiful aqueduct. But nice to see the restored wharf building in progress. Thanks again Andy always look forward to these series on lost canals..

Great to see the old buildings being repurposed and the remains of the canal being re watered.

This is absolutely fabulous detective work Andy! Thank you so much for this. I’ve been looking for the aqueduct where my dad took me fishing as a boy, and I found where it was at Kinnersley, but I find it hard to understand where all the embankment has gone? Walking Kinnersley Drive to the end, at Donnington Drive, it’s hard to think that the lane was passable by car, and led under the canal. Extremely odd. You mentioned other photographs, I’d like to discover more about the area. You may know about the two sets of semi circular sections of cobbles, set into the road at Kinnersley and Preston. Are these where the canal crossed the road perhaps? In the meantime, my thanks for all you’ve done! Regards, Les Curtis

Two months ago I cycled from here to Shrewsbury, following the best I could the old canal route. They were working on a Saturday morning, saw I looked interested, so invited me in { Once clad in helmet and high viz } and showed me round.
    It was fantastic.
The Nissen building was built in the war and is going to be moved to a museum.
Another interesting feature is the pill box in the field near Bridge Farm.

As far as I'm aware "No public right of way" doesn't mean that you can't walk along a route, it means that it isn't a protected route from being built on or fenced off etc.

I do take a bit of a relaxed approach to trespass but with the ground so wet its hart to move unless you stick to the footpaths.

thanks. this is where i start to ask questions. conference centre? if you want a conference near telford the town is full of venues easily accessible and served by public transport so i think they've entered a contest they can't win! they've spent the budget on wappensall and as a few hundred meters of restored (for the second time now) water and some buildings i don't see it paying it's way unless let as office/workshop space. there's not enough of it to be a tourist spot. more interesting if they put a water and elsan point in and got 2 or 3 landlocked live-aboards there. (£ income too).

I suspect more of a community centre i think. There is a massive housing estate planned next door and the basin with its buildings will be a central point.
