Brian, on tall or thick growth it helps when you make passes that spread the grass out evenly across the area as as much as possible. That will let the air hit the clippings and start the drying out process. Weather conditions dictate the rate of drying, but when you make the second pass the grass will mulch much better and doesn’t leave any clumps on the turf.
