Well done for obeying the promptings of the spirit & contacting your Dad. It couldn’t have been easy for you. Well done too on forgiving those who have hurt you in the past. I know that through the atonement of the Saviour & all that he went through in the garden of Gethsemane that we can do all these things. Take care. x
In the Australian movie "Muriel's Wedding," Muriel lives in a northern coastal NSW town, she has a dad who is a jerk, she gets picked on by mean classmates, she has doubts that she will ever get married, and she decides to move to Sydney. Have you seen this movie? You're really tripping me out, since it's one of my favorites. Do you happen to listen to a lot of music by the band Abba?
Hahaha I have only seen snippets going in and out of the emergency waiting room a couple years ago. I couldn't really hear it but it looked like a good movie
That's so good that you were able to forgive your father! It's tough to do, but it sounds like it gave you peace. Was he the surfer? You've been surfing again in recent months, which seems like a way to reconnect to the good aspects of your father on a spiritual level. Just ignore your former classmates deeming you as un-datable. Look at the reality of that situation - their perspective was coming from teenagers, who weren't mature enough to be in a real relationship and weren't able to handle real life situations. At this point in life, you don't want to be in a relationship with a teenage boy, correct? The truth in their words is that you aren't fit to date a TEENAGE boy, due to their lack of maturity and empathy. Those TEENAGE boys didn't want to be with you. Those hurtful words were the words of TEENAGERS! Their perspective could not speak for the views of a grown man who possesses maturity and intellect. You will find a relationship with a mature MAN your current age, nothing like the BOYS who said those words that hurt you.
Thank you lovely for your kind words. My mother was the surfer in the family. I used to surf as a kid with her brothers and her. My father wasn't very athletic
Because I'm a visual thinker, I see bitterness as a poison apple I took a bite out of. Because sometimes it just takes that one mouthful to upset the balance. But it's okay to take a bite out of that apple, so long as you don't eat the whole thing. We're impossibly human, and so are our brains. It's what we do after that makes the difference. Keep on, keeping on. ❤
