There isn’t 1 single Harris/Walz campaign staffer who hasn’t been paid. They were even offered severance packages to give them a buffer while seeking new jobs, that’s been confirmed. Staffers have also posted on their personal social media pages, like Marcus Vusovich who stated: Harris/Walz staffer here. We are still on staff, we get paid on the 15th and we have 2weeks of severance. STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION!”
The lie began on Fox & Friends, when Lidy Li, a prolific & highly regarded fundraiser who worked for the Harris campaign, agreed to be interviewed in person, on air. It wasn’t the first time she’d been been interviewed on Fox, despite being a Democrat. It is, however, the first time they willfully misinterpreted her words & used underhanded editing techniques to make it look & sound like she was playing into their narrative. She never said that staffers were leaving, she was talking about donors. She never said that staff members weren’t being paid, she was talking about the campaign raising $1 billion at the point when Trump had only raised $340 million, and that she naively believed that vast difference was evidence that more people supported Kamala, & those people vote…hence, Kamala would win. Bigly. She discussed having to explain to donors what their money was used for, and how this outcome was even possible in a fair election. She wasn’t talking about money for staff, she didn’t say ANYTHING about staff money, that wasn’t her job. She discussed donors & campaign finance issues. But, Fox found ways to twist her words & gaslight viewers. She discussed perceived flaws in the campaign, but nothing inherently aggressive, nor disparaging about Kamala Harris. IN FACT, if you read the transcript of the full, unedited interview, you’ll see:
“Even with all the chaos, Li says there’s one person she doesn’t blame: Harris.
“She was handed this,” Li said. “She did the best she could under the circumstances. She had 107 days. I love her. (Pause) I love her.”
Harris is a good person, Li said”
And if you read just a little further down, in much smaller lettering, you’ll read this:
“Fox News was unable to independently verify the reported figure of debt. However, there is no evidence to support claims that staffers are not being paid.”
So, even Fox admitted they were lying about it. You just have to REALLY look for the admission. And, honestly, even if it were true, do you really think this is a hill Trump supporters should be ready to die on? Trump has unpaid bills all across the nation, many of which stem from his 2016 campaign. Even before running for office Trump had a history of refusing to pay bills from outsourced vendors - there are many verified instances of people who suffered financially bc Trump just wouldn’t pay them….like the architect he brought in to refurbish Wollman Rink in Central Park, and who lost his firm as a result of not taking any other jobs to focus entirely on Trump’s vanity project, then not being paid at all by him. Trump has also filed bankruptcy 6 times, which isn’t a victimless act…between the thousands, upon thousands of employees going unpaid, losing their jobs & their benefits, to the taxpayers who end up being held responsible for much of the monetary loss, Trump remains a multimillionaire. Trump didn’t experience the dramatic loss his employees did - employees of SIX companies - he left everyone else holding the bag & he vanished with his money. MAGAts should maybe sit this one out. At least until after he pays his rape victim, E. Jean Carroll the $90 million he owes her. Then, maybe.
