I always enjoying reading comments like this. I think there are some people too who only knew JFK and Ted but not RFK, because Ted was around and politically active in the 21st Century. I doubt many people know who Joe Jr was at all.
Ted Kennedy made it to the Democratic National Convention in 1980 trying to unseat Jimmy Carter. However, the party wouldn’t overturn certain rules to give Kennedy his nomination. Although, he suspended his candidacy, he did get votes against Carter. This caused Carter to lose votes and Carter became the first incumbent president to lose multiple states he had won in the previous presidential election. Reagan might not have won if it weren’t for Kennedy’s involvement
First incumbent to lose multiple states he had previously won? You mean in the primaries or in the general? The nationwide primary was still fairly new by 1980, so that stat isn’t that big considering the sample size. Numerous incumbents have lost states even in successful re-election bids, like FDR in ‘40 and ‘44 and Wilson in 1916

Certain types of jobs should not be handed off to members of a family, as if it were an inheritance. I would include offices such as a dentist, a lawyer, a neurosurgeon, a general, and elective office (particularly the Presidency). Each person should be judged on his or her own merit. Family ties can be both a positive and negative. RFK Jr's Presidential Run is getting positive media attention because he is a member of the Kennedy Dynasty. He might not be seen as a serious candidate, except for name recognition. However, if George P. Bush ever ran for President, he might recieve greater scrutiny from the press based on the fact that he is the son and grandson of Republican Presidents. 🎉
I think it’s because the Bushes aren’t exactly recognized as great leaders, both left and right. If it were the descendant of Reagan or Lincoln, they’d definitely get more positive traction!
It's an interesting world to think about, the one where the Kennedys all survived and all had successful terms as president. Joe Jr. was born in 1915, JFK in 1917, RFK in 1925, and Ted in 1932. You have to be 35 years old to be Vice President or President. This means the first elections they'd be old enough to be either Vice President or President in were 1952 (1950), 1952 (1952), 1964 (1960), and 1968 (1967), respectively. If a Kennedy brother runs as soon as eligible, and wins every election, the timeline would look like this: Joe Jr. Presidency: 1952-1960 JFK Presidency: 1960-1968 RFK Presidency: 1968-1976 Ted Presidency: 1976-1984 As noted in the video, this would be a span of 32 years, covering the entirety of the 60's and the 70's. This would replace the presidencies of Eisenhower, L. B. Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter, as well as partially replacing the presidency of Reagan. Not only that, but every brother could serve as Vice President to the next oldest, except for the 1960-1964 term, since RFK's birthday is November 20th, after Election Day. I wonder what would happen to them afterwards in this timeline? Here's some thoughts of mine. Joe Jr. I only know of in the military; I know nothing about who he was as a person, but assuming he enjoyed being in the military, I imagine he would serve as President, and then might be appointed Secretary of Defense, or otherwise take an active role in the armed forces. Did the Joint Chiefs of Staff exist at that time? JFK would not serve as Joe Jr.'s Vice President, but would instead serve in Congress, as he did in history. After his presidency, I imagine he'd become a sort of head of the family, devoting his time to making the life of the Kennedy family better in the private realm. RFK would be the first to serve as Vice President to his brother, replacing Johnson in 1964. He was a lawyer, and, in this scenario, would likely be appointed to the Supreme Court after his presidency. Assuming Earl Warren still becomes Chief Justice in 1953, and still retires in 1969, feeling safe that the Dems will appoint his successor, RFK himself would appoint the next Chief Justice. In the real world, this was Warren Burger, who was appointed by Nixon and was Chief Justice from 1969-1986. In 1986, RFK would be 61. This is close to the age that both Warren and Burger were appointed Chief Justice, so I imagine that RFK would appoint the next Chief Justice, who would then retire at some point in the 80's, to be succeeded by RFK himself. Bonus points if Ted appoints his brother Chief Justice. Ted would serve as RFK's Vice President for both terms, and relish in this role, after serving in Congress during the terms of Joe Jr. and JFK; he'd be old enough (25) to run for the House in 1957, and old enough to run for the Senate (30) in 1962. I imagine he'd win a seat in the house in 1958, retain it in 1960, and run to fill JFK's Senate seat in 1962, which he'd win, as he did in history. He'd serve in Congress and build a good reputation for himself, good enough that he'd be selected for Vice President in 1968. The Kennedy brothers ticket would be a novelty for voters; i.e. "They're brothers so they can work well together, vote for them". Ted would be an active Vice President, heavily involved in the Senate, so much so that he'd be unhappy to leave the role to run for President in 1976. He would do so anyways, and not terribly enjoy the Presidency, so much so that he'd run for Senate again in 1984, the last year of his Presidency. He'd win the election and serve in the Senate until his death, as in history. This would completely alter the course of US political history. Without the Johnson and Nixon Presidencies, so much of the political landscape of the late 60's and 70's changes. Who would've been Joe Jr.'s Vice President? Who would've been Ted's? Would conservatism still rise during the late 60's and 70's? Would Reagan still get elected Governor of California in 1966? What would happen to Nixon and Johnson? Would Ted's Presidential aloofness enable Reagan to win in 1984? This feels like an alternate history novel. Somebody should write that. A nice video, I'm quite grateful for the thought it promoted within me. Thanks for reading.
Kerry and Ted tried to shake my mom's hand at some political event. They went to shake her hand but she put her hand behind her back. My mother always hated the Kennedys and Kerry. I hope Joe Sr. Rots in hell for what he did to his disabled daughter.
People think of the Kennedys as America's great political dynasty, yet others have greater claim to that title. The Adams family of Massachusetts (starting with John Adams) actually should be considered our great political dynasty: Two members of the family became President, another became a famed diplomat, and later generations became renowned historians. But still, the Kennedys have that magic name - and that legacy of having risen from the level of the powerless Irish immigrant that was the family's ancestor to the symbol of American success. We have always loved the story of the underdog making it in a vastly rigged system and taking it over. Consider, however: Only one Kennedy became President, and, aside from Bobby, no other Kennedy reached the same height. Even today, there are Kennedys in public office (excluding John Kennedy of Louisiana, who is not directly related). But let's face it, none of the Kennedys, except maybe Teddy, had a lasting effect on American history. Jack Kennedy's record in Congress was abysmal - and, realistically, his record as President wasn't much better. Bobby got his seat in the Senate solely to strengthen an eventual run at the Presidency, and I can't even think of an achievement worthy of the perceived name by any other Kennedy family member. And Teddy got HIS Senatorial seat due to his family ties and only much later when it was clear that he would never be President did he really begin to establish a legacy as Senator. By the end of his life, Teddy probably had the greatest effect on American history by actual deeds and not just as a symbol of his brothers' martyrdom.
I’d say kennedy’s Apollo mission was pretty significant, perhaps not politically but in many other ways. Personally I don’t think lbj would’ve ever introduced the civil rights bill or cared for anti-segregation so it’s a good thing the Kennedys (Bobby was very involved) introduced it
If the kennedy dynasty succeeded, i could see it like this: Joseph P Kennedy sr, 33th president, 1940 to 1948, aged 52 to aged 60 Dwight D Eisenhower, 34th president, 1948 to 1956, aged 58 to aged 62 Joe Kennedy jr, 35th president, 1956 to 1964, aged 41 to age 49 Richard Nixon, 36th president, 1964 to 1972, aged 51 to aged 59 John F Kennedy sr, 37th president, 1972 to 1980, aged 55 to aged 63 George h w bush sr, 38th president, 1980 to 1988, aged 56 to aged 64 Robert F Kennedy sr, 39th president, 1988 to 1996, aged 64 to 73 George W Bush jr, 40th president, 1996 to 2004, aged 50 to aged 58 Donald Trump, 41st president, 2004 to 2008, aged 58 to aged 62 John F Kennedy jr, 42nd president, 2008 to 2016, aged 48 to aged 56 Jeb Bush, 43rd president, 2016 to 2020, aged 63 to aged 68 Robert F Kennedy jr, 44th president, 2020 to 2028, aged 64 to aged 72 Ronald Desantis, 45th president, 2028 to 2036, aged 50 to aged 58 Patrick J Kennedy, 46th president, 2036 to 2044, aged 69 to aged 77 Vivek Ramaswamy, 47th president, 2044 to 2052, aged 58 to aged 66 Joe Kennedy III, 48th president, 2052 to 2060, aged 71 to aged 79 Mr beast, 49th president, 2060 to 2068, aged 62 to aged 70

Mary Jo wasnt his secretary. She was a staffer on Bobby's presidential campaign. Im not saying he was a saint, but 4 of his siblings died before he was 40 and he suddenly had to be the patriarch. I probably would have started drinking too. He did a lot of good in the Senate. He saved us from Robert Bork, he created Obama care too.
His secretary died in a car crash and he didn't help her. Drove the car i to a lake by mistake iirc. He could've very well been president had that not happened.
why no mention of the Bushes George H.W. and George W. ?
When you mentioned family pairs in the White House, You forgot George H. W. Bush and his son George W. Bush and although not that close and can be considered a strech, cousins Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt
I believe he was talking about familial relations up to that point for the Kennedys! But yes, you have a point about the Roosevelts.
But where is terry kennedy did he become president or did he changed his last name to labonte???
My dad worked in Saudi Arabia into metro system. And in Qatar helping to put in Rail System especially for the World Cup.
Also George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush
In the alternate history novel "Fatherland" in which Hitler wins WWII, President Kennedy visits Germany to celebrate the still alive Hitler's 75th birthday... the President Kennedy is, however Joseph P. Kennedy the father....
And now we have another Kennedy in 2024
And in the end, his cousin comes closest 💀
What about teddy and FDR? They were related
Ted was the only one not murdered 🫣
This in news: Kennedy brothers happiest men alive when moving to their own homes
I didn’t know jfk had brothers other than rfk.
That election was so 1 sided it's hard to imagine that being realistic
First incumbent to lose multiple states he had previously won? You mean in the primaries or in the general? The nationwide primary was still fairly new by 1980, so that stat isn’t that big considering the sample size. Numerous incumbents have lost states even in successful re-election bids, like FDR in ‘40 and ‘44 and Wilson in 1916
@@metroidnerd9001 I believe the article I read refers to primaries. Not sure if he got any votes in the general election. I looked into it and there’s no info on how many votes Kennedy got, if any, on Election Day
Back when the democratic party used Superdelegates to balance or even outweigh the will of the people
@@donkraemer50 are you implying that the Democrats did something differently than Republicans? I don’t know too many points in American political history, where one party had that much of an advantage in the electoral process than the other.
If a Kennedy brother runs as soon as eligible, and wins every election, the timeline would look like this:
Joe Jr. Presidency: 1952-1960
JFK Presidency: 1960-1968
RFK Presidency: 1968-1976
Ted Presidency: 1976-1984
As noted in the video, this would be a span of 32 years, covering the entirety of the 60's and the 70's.
Probably the greatest political family in american history. Good luck RFK Jr.
Who else was upset when he didn’t mention RFK Jr.
Well it’s about the Kennedy brothers
He was talking about Joe Kenndy Sr.'s kids, RFK Jr. is Bobby's son.
RFK jr lets goooooo!!!!!
Kerry and Ted tried to shake my mom's hand at some political event. They went to shake her hand but she put her hand behind her back. My mother always hated the Kennedys and Kerry. I hope Joe Sr. Rots in hell for what he did to his disabled daughter.
This is the first time I've ever heard of somebody having beef with the kennedys. Im kinda Surprised.

Personally I don’t think lbj would’ve ever introduced the civil rights bill or cared for anti-segregation so it’s a good thing the Kennedys (Bobby was very involved) introduced it
If the kennedy dynasty succeeded, i could see it like this:
Joseph P Kennedy sr, 33th president, 1940 to 1948, aged 52 to aged 60
Dwight D Eisenhower, 34th president, 1948 to 1956, aged 58 to aged 62

JFK's closest aides were literally called the "Irish Mafia." They were holdovers from his congressional campaigns in Massachusetts.
