Bereits als Teil des Blues Caravan 2018 machte die gebürtige Kroatin Vanja Sky Furore, sie liebt es allerdings, aus dem reinen Blues-Schema auszubrechen. So steht sie für einen Genre-Mix, der Blues- mit feistem Hard-Rock vereint, einen Sound mit Verve und Hingabe kreiert, der keine Angst vor Brüchen, Ecken und Kanten kennt.
Die 1993 geborene Gitarristin und Sängerin ist eine Spätberufene, begann erst mit 19 Jahren, Gitarre zu spielen. Umso erstaunlicher sind ihr musikalisches Können, ihr Talent - und ihre Durchsetzungsfähigkeit. Denn trotz aller Schwierigkeiten, in ihrem Heimatland auf sich aufmerksam zu machen, vermochte sie es, sich mit ihrem Stil im Rest von Europa in Windeseile Gehör zu verschaffen.
Ihr von jugendlichem Elan befeuerter Blues-Rock erschöpft sich nicht in gitarrentechnischen Eskapaden, vielmehr sucht und forscht Vanja Sky nach seinen Grenzen, um sie dann sukzessive einzureißen. Da reibt sich ein räudiger Country-Blues an fesselndem Funk, da stürmen laut tosende Riffs nach vorne, um im nächsten Song von herzschmerzendem Folk konterkariert zu werden, da treffen Rockabilly-Zutaten auf Songs, mit denen sie den Titanen des Blues die Ehre erweist.
Entsprechend ordnet sie selbst ihre Musik ein, denn ihr Stil habe „klassischen Blues Rock Vibe, aber mit meinem eigenen Touch.“ Stimmlich erinnert sie dabei manches Mal an Chrissie Hynde von den Pretenders, aber auch Joan Jett dürfte eines ihrer Vorbilder sein. Live verspricht Vanja Sky mit ihrer Band, unterstützt vom Rockpalast-erfahrenen Krissy Matthews, ein rockendes Spektakel.

You don't often see three such good guitarists and a bassist playing perfectly together. Vanja (Croatia) is exceptional like Ana Popovic (Serbia) and in the second half a fourth guitarist comes on stage with Krissy Matthews (Britain/Norway) and that's party happy go lucky. Thanks Rockpalast,

We wish to.... but because of the USA government rules we had to spend more than 10000€ to do that, while every US artist could play for free in the EU..... maybe you should elect a more open government to see more bands from "oversea"....

Nice sounding basic rock band. But, lose the glitter. You don't need it. Any band that likes "I Don't Need No Doctor", I like. Love the Humble Pie version of that song.
I should have known better and set the sensitivity on my " WOW " meter , as it Maxed Out at a factor of 5 , and broke the needle .

For me it seems you made a 35 years break listen to Rockpalast.... If they only would send "life changing" shows in 2023, with Internet (you heard of this?) and millions of bands.... almost everything, especially in Rock / Blues, been there before..... what totally new and life changing you can expect in this genre? If, then there will be one Rockpalast show in 10 years..... maximum !!
I think you are just living in the past..... Grow up, accept the fact that there will be no life changing new things in Rock anymore, because Rock is 80 years old now.....

@@markfind2153 Look Mark, we can argue all you want but it wont change the fact this is 3rd grade musicianship on a medium that hosted some of the greatest players in history of music. Whoever is choosing artists for Rockpalast needs to find another job ASAP. There are great bands out there. This is not one fo them. Even if we disregard the music and just listen to the lyrics...Jesus.....80min of ...my baby left me...I woke up in A morning (WTF?!?)....etc. cliches.

Never heard of her and I'm surprised. I'm 69 and a hard rocker since I was 6 (for real). Shows you how much talent is out there somewhat obscurely. Like this stuff a LOT. And also a red-blooded American male, but you know what.....I appreciate that she's not coming out all dressed out like a porn star.She let's the good looks and music speak for itself.
