- EPISODE #2 - The diary of our Great Divide Trail (GDT) adventure. The second episode is "Section B" which is from Coleman Alberta to Boulton Creek Provincial Campground. It was far harder than expected and more beautiful than imagined.
Dudley (Bruce Watts), Crusher (Chris Abbott) & Mango (Tracy Généreux) - and many new friends - thru-hiked the Great Divide Trail during the summer of 2021. 1100-ish crazy hard and wild kilometres from the Alberta/Montana international border (near Waterton), to Kakwa Provincial Park along the continental divide in the Canadian Rockies. Considered the "Wildest" Thru-Hike in North America - We agree!
This video is the 2nd episode of a 7 part series we affectionately are calling the "GREAT DIVIDE TRAIL DIARIES" ... we will be uploading vids on this channel as they are completed (be patient... there are lots of personal summer adventures that keep us from the editing studio -- SUBSCRIBE SO YOU WON'T MISS THE CYBER ADVENTURE!

Thanks for the great videos. Watched part A and B today. Loving it. Makes me want to go right away. I’ll re-watch this series while reading the GDT guidebook.
excellent... the GDT was logistically challenging, yet the hike itself was the best I've done. Good luck
You guys are cranking out miles! I really appreciate the small clip at the start of each day with mileage and location. Many times when I am researching a trip, I find youtube videos and while they entertaining I am left with questions like - Where did you camp? How long was each day? How did you get there?....maybe it is the super nerd inside me, but I like that info. Helps me envision the route so much more.
So much appreciated…. Plus I agree with you re trip information… so I decided to make my series like a “diary” with dets!

Loving the videos, can't wait for the rest of them. I had the pleasure of sharing a camp site with Mango and her friend on the La Cloche Silhouette Trail a couple of weeks ago. Super nice girl, I bombarded her with questions about the GDT. I am hoping to hike it next summer.
Thanks so much… and Mango is one “hiking Machine”! Pound for pound, the strongest hiker I know.
Me, my wife, and my hiking Buddy coined a phrase one year hiking the muddy, wet trails of the Tonquin. It was “embrace the suck”, referring to the sucking noise our boots were making in the mud. It’s become a bit of a mantra for our Rocky Mountain backpacking trips as it’s often futile to try to avoid all the puddles and mud and you’re more likely to hurt yourself trying to hop around between roots and rocks than to just walk through the wetness. Anyway, another great episode, looking forward to Section C!

love this series! I'm planning my own GDT thru hike and I really cant wait!!! I've ordered the Sundown pack and its nice to see it in some videos. cant wait to use it on the trail!

Hey Dudley!!! Absolutely great job putting this all together. I just watched Section A and B and I am anxiously awaiting Section C. Seeing everyone again, including Munchie, is so great. I really hope everyone is doing well.
