The Platform 17 Memorial, Berlin Grunewald station, Berlin, germany.

The Platform 17 Memorial is dedictated to the 50,000 Jews deported from Berlin during the Holocaust.
Located beside the Berlin Grunewald S-Bahn station (S3, S5, S7), the main part of the memorial site consists of 186 cast iron plates arranged in chronological order and set in the edge of the former platform on each side of the tracks. Each plate is enscribed with the departure date of a transport train, the number of deportees, the point of departure in Berlin and the destination.
The memorial was inaugurated on 27 January 1998 to a design by the team of architects Hirsch, Lorch and Wandel in Saarbrücken and Frankfurt am Main.
The concrete memorial wall with the shapes of deportees cut out of the concrete was created by Karol Broniatowski.
I could not find any information ob the white painted figures or the hanging birds. Please put in the comments if you have any information about these works.

Thank you for the upload. It is definitely on my list of places to visit on a future trip to Berlin. There doesn’t seem to be much written about this memorial on signposts around it. Probably because of the allied bombing during the war and then the Berlin Wall, many train lines and stations were extensively damaged and then disused so possibly that is one explanation for the unused overgrown rail lines that you saw. (And you are so like me in making apologies to the slugs…when I am gardening and I uncover and earthworm by accident I way “I’m sorry, I’m sorry”. Thank you. From Dubrovnik - Zoltán

Not Ravensburg (2:50) but Ravensbruch Jews were deported from Ravensburg also. There are the small brass plaques existing in the pavements to commerate the dead.
