His striking was good, outlanded DDP comfortably. The issue was his submission defense and cage movement.

Better take a punch on your guard then on your chin
Or just not be in the line of fire which is what he’s alluding to. Besides he knows when to put up a guard, he wouldn’t have gotten this far without solid understanding of fundamentals.
& if you look at when Alex knocked him out, He actually manipulated Izzy’s guard to open him up down the center to fire off his lead hook at an angle.

Smaller gloves it’s easier to seep through the guard and shoot for takedowns
How about employing basic mixed martial arts techniques which encompasses much more than just using a high guard?

Izzys ground game is atrocious. Watching him try those subs against gastelum was hilarious it was so obv he was just throwing them up to try and change the narrative none of them were done correct or had any chance of being locked up he was just going through the motions.
You do gotta understand, that was in round 5 of a war of back n forth action. You try to go 25 min of nonstop action n try to throw those tired legs up for a armbar or triangle n you’ll see if it’s “hilarious”
