As Zack Wylde said. You've gotta love music. Because music won't love you back. Why these guys never got off the back burner is unjust. They are masters.
Indeed I was working on this tune by 1991. What a keeper (although the end of "Don't Care" is pretty good too). I hear Ty has a recording studio here in KCMO now.
I called myself a guitar player after I finally nailed this song from start to finish. It took me forever to crack that ending, but now I am spanking that part.
There's a pattern, what's probably throwing you off is that the timing is loose; it was recorded live so the timing on that part is based on feel not a metronome or some rigid sense of time.
I think I figured out why the name of the band is King's X: 1 - They are the undisputed Kings of Rock (I mean seriously, they rule!) 2 - X represents the unknown. It is unknown why they are not household names and in the Rock Hall of Fame
OK... I think... yeah, its... oh no hang on... OK, now it's fin... no not quite yet... right, now it's finis... oh no wait, not yet... OK, I think it finishe... no, still not yet... OK now I'm sure it's fin... no, still going... finished?... no... now?... no... what about... no... OK... now?... No... It's the song that never finishes.

Surely it's against the law to have written such an amazing chorus. Damn, I wish I'd gotten into these guys sooner in life.
Grooves this deep should only be handled by professionals
I've seen them live 12 times and they were great every time.l
That bass drum is so perfectly mixed. It has the perfect amount of oomph. And that outro? Oh man... perfect...
They used to do this song live. During the outro, they wouldn’t look at each other but were able to keep perfect time. Criminally underrated.
i think this band is so shamefully underrated. it doesn't get what it really deserves - a broader recognition!
I remember when I bought this CD in early 90s for 5 bucks, and loved it ...played it over and over
Still kick-ass after all these years!
I got introduced to this song today! Wow! :D
Better late than never!
Best outro ever.
+Mike Barden Made even better by the fact that Doug unexpectedly announces "Take it to the bridge, y'all!" toward the end of it.
ABSOLUTLY THE BEST OUTRO EVER!!
Certainly one of the best. Not sure if it beats Deliverence though

pretty much the whole song
God really blessed us with this band !!! Such incredible talent !!
Tonight in Sacramento, Ca. King's X rocking the river city.
This has to be a top three jam of theirs.
I called myself a guitar player after I finally nailed this song from start to finish. It took me forever to crack that ending, but now I am spanking that part.
The ending is so confusing, there's no pattern................... I love it!!!!!!!!!
a very groovy pattern indeed
oh there is a pattern.... welcome to prog
But is King's X _really_ prog? I haven't heard anything from them that's really proggy. This would be the closest I've heard, and it's still in 4/4.

Couldnt stand the weather stevie ray vaughn
Small club in Spartanburg SC round '01. Magical! Could not believe how fortunate I was to be present!

Just for some info fellow brother ..if a man could not write, he made his mark .. with an 'X' .. hence, the King's X.
Best rock band in the world period. Never got the success they so rightly deserved
Awesome every time I saw them starting at #40Watt club Athens GA 1999 and #exitinn 2004 through 2006 in Nashville.
Happy Birthday Doug.
God bless you
They are best live. For real.
can confirm
Get well soon Jerry.

No! Really?? Wow, time flies.
Anyone else remember Dave Lettermans band would play this while they went into a commercial break?

It's the song that never finishes.
And you never want it to!
weird guitar tone? lol whatever thats Ty
How? It sounds amazing!
Weird in the best way!
One of the reasons Ty is so damn good. Nobody else has that fat and fuzzy tone!
tightasfuck
Martin Aston absolutetly
🙂
...me too but all they love Hugh Jackman...:'(
I love this band but this guy has weird guitar tone, it's all midrange
I gotta admit, it took me a while but his tone grew on me. Awesome guitar player either way
James Rockford i dig it cause its got clear separation from the bass
You are probably alone among King's X fans to not absolutely love Ty's tone.
Guitar tone should be mid range...
I agree with James, Ty's tone is a little too fizzy on this album. He perfected it on Dogman.
Worst outro ever so annoying
What in the... Are you kidding???
haha nice joke
😂
All good, bro. Perhaps you just couldn't detect the rhythmic pattern. Very prog rock
