Still works. I bought mine used off ebay and was pissed to know it wasn’t turning on. The metal piece was sticking straight upwards and just had to be bent back into place. Thank you so much.
Thank you. I've seen this video before and found it because my PlayStation 3 only responds to the on/off button when the console has been running for a while and has gotten hot.
I have a question: I had accidentally snatched out the ribbon cable of the socket on my Power Eject Switch. I am just wondering if I do have to find an replacement of an Power Eject Switch or can I still work with the one that I still currently have without the blue strip attached to it
@@RobLavinci yes sir you bet it did. Just do as the guy said in the video. Just slightly pull up the metal contacts. The touch responds as the metal contacts touch. So it should fix the issue for you. But if not then it will be another issue that I have not sealed with yet. I hope this helps. Best of luck!
Last time I tried to fire up my PS3 I couldn't get the power button to work . I think that I finally got it turned on by using the eject button or a similar bypass . I'll have to try this .
I bought a broken ps3 to repair and it had this same issue. Simply cleaning the contacts with a Qtip and IPA works like a charm ;) (The whole console was dirty, corroded and dusty. I have reason to believe the previous owner is a smoker).
I have a similar issue with my CECH-A01, but I can eject ⏏️ and I can turn it on, but I can’t turn it off using the touch pad… very annoying as I’m trying to restore it.
@@GAMERX-nq4io you have to remove the safety torque to slide the cover off and then remove the 7 screws to separate the top from the bottom, release the tab on the back right side and pull from the back. And it's right there. Its really not hard. There are videos here if your unsure. But yes you have some taking a part to do.
These buttons have never worked with my fingers, I have to get my wife or kids to switch off the PS3's, I have several of them and one from new, never been able to do it.
Have the same problem. Since its about conductivity you can use any metal piece. Maybe you can try and replace it with aluminium foil but you have to be careful incase it's touching any other metal pieces on the board. It should work.

Thanks. I suggest dielectric grease between the leaf springs and the capacitive conductor plates if you see any corrosion. It worked great for me!
wow! this whole time i thought my ps3 was broken, then I see this video. thanks so much for sharing man! cheers
Thank you soo much. this helped me test of the power button was working. Have a great day!
Thank you for this video man. This really helped me, along with your video on removing the cover. Thanks!

Or you can just blow air into the vents on the other side of the contacts. Just fixed my eject sensor.
U are a fucin legend
Very informative
If you removed the top, could you wash the lid with water? Would it damage those metal bits?
Thank you so much man, you make happy a sad little (and a big : Me ;) boy (my son)

@@theunseen8054 do you have to take it apart to fix or is it fairly easy

I just use the controller to start and and power down and use the software eject, those buttons are just bad design, I don't bother with them anymore.

Thanks man.
