  • In this Curling Balance Progression video for junior curlers (it works well with adults too!), Coach Matt takes his 7 year old son Max to the club in order to work on his balance during the slide.
In these progressive drills, we start with the athlete just getting a feel for maintaining posture in the slide position. We then progress to the broom exercise where we pull the athlete while they maintain balance in the slide position. Finally, we complete the progression by having the athlete push out from the hack using only a stabilizer to hold onto while they push off from the hack into a balanced slide position.
After completing these balance progression drills the athletes are now ready to start throwing stones!

The first two drills instantly changed the littlest group of our junior program. Thx for this.

this looks like a great drill for adults also, Any drills like this, the field goal drill and the no C drill are great for taking LTC adults to the next level of balance. I am going to incorporate them all. thanks

Surprised you don’t have your junior wearing a helmet.

He’s always wearing his helmet, he must have taken it off just before shooting the video and I didn’t notice!
