Its the calvinist-protestant culture of the US. All is in order. All is without showing feellings, all is rationalized, all is only for winners that cannot love a team because they are too individualistic for those things. Come to an orthodox country and imposse that.
Not really. USA is a big diverse place with people who act differently but usually respect others rights to do so. NBA games are marketed as safe entertainment for all types of people. A big group chanting in unison doesn't have the same mass appeal, and will serve to alienate fans, and lower revenue. This type of behavior is more similar to how people cheer for college sports in the US, which have big blocks of young people cheering in them. And the college games are probably skill wise on a similar level to what you see here.

I live in Greece and I have attended games like these. The atmosphere is electrifying. It's not for everyone. Families don't attend, besides the flares and the chants there is very very foul language. All these teams have organized fans where they live for their teams. In Greece and in Europe the home teams have a greater advantage because of the atmosphere. And another thing opposing fans don't attend because riots start, fights, stabbings, even shootings. Opposing teams are scared and they don't perform as well. The same fans attend the football games and other sports. Every club has teams in every sport, soccer, basketball, volleyball, water polo, handball, etc. But the atmosphere is usually in big games, not that much in small ones.
I think this happens everywere but in USA. In Latin America is the same thing, here stadiums get packed with fans, foul language, chants, flares, even guys with a huge drum. Only thing is that team fans turned into basically gangs

Two main reasons of fans of Aris BC being so supportive is they are so proud of their team since they are the most historic basketball club of Greece with one of the greatest European basketball legends of all time, the HOF Nick Galis and the second is their great rivalry with the local team PAOK of Thessaloniki. Most chants are... loving words to PAOK.

@Емир Sevimay They wouldn't have a Bucks chant but just the booing against the opposing team would be night and day compared to an NBA game :P If they really commit into it that is
True Greece fans don't like Giannis and for sure the atmosphere wouldn't be like this. The atmosphere gets like this because of their passion and love for the club not for one specific player.
@@wonderlandian8465 They respect him, but they create this kind of atmosphere because of their love for clubs and national team. They wouldn't create this kind of atmosphere for Bucks, for them it's just some club in America. As for Giannis he doesn't have same status in Greece like some others iconic Greece players, like Nikos Galis, Diamantidis or Spanaoulis had.
Basketball is our national sport as we call it here in Greece, it became that way when we won our first European championship in 1987 beating an almost unbeatable ussr team back in the day, and further cemented its place after our 2nd win in 2005 and our 2nd place finish after beating the USA in the 2006 world championship
Imagine knowing what are they chanting.7 out of 10 words are bad words 😂.and also dont expect this atmosphere in national matches.greeks love more the club team than the national team.
Aris Thessaloniki is in the first video of Europe (check super3). Also in Greece, where you can indeed find the best basketball atmospheres in Europe. Different level
the thing is that in europe many sports clubs have multiple sports sections, like LA Lakers would have also american football, hockey etc, and most of the time the football ultras of those clubs also go to support the other sections of their clubs, or if it's not the same club they support the other sports teams from their city
I was inside the stadium when the lights suddenly shut down !!! Its our lifestyle !!! We learn to stand our ground to fight for our colours and for our pride !!! Super 3 ultras for eternity!!!
When I was a little girl I asked my dad why sport competitions are so big. He told me that people fight other countries in sport so they get their anger away and don't have to go to war with them instead. So sport prevents war. I don't know if it is true, but in a way I feel like USA has way more military than european countries so maybe it has an influence
Those European basketball fans. Red star Belgrade.... Paok etc etc are absolutely bonkers the atmosphere they bring is just mental and they become as big a part of the game as the teams and for us the fans it's just incredible to watch the passion is unrivalled
It’s not red star it’s fmp. Nobody can forbid fmp how they gonna be called, so they call them self red star and they took red star fans too with a club. It’s life you know.
There’s a reason why the NBA has the PA system playing music throughout the game: its because NBA fans are so quiet that you can hear all of the negative sounds of the game and makes it hard to watch.
Big difference is that European fans go to matches because they love their club and yes, European fans equaly go to football (soccer) and basketball matches. USA fans go to matches because of players and show.
Europe is so raw because they experienced the devastation of the first and second world wars first hand and behind that is thousands of years of conflicts. Americans may have experienced the two world wars but it never came to their land. Countries in europe were virtually destroyed less than a generation ago and conflicts like the third Balkan war only ended in 2001, less than 20 years ago. This is why there is so much passion, they live for the moment because they know it is precious.
I dont think it has anything to do with that , I think its more cultural , americans just dont have the same passion for a team ..... also most of those european basketball teams are also football teams , so the fans bring the same football atmosphere to the basketball arena
It's partially correct, in Europe the rivalry between city (teams) is what remains of Middle age and rennaissance constant warfare, and sport is a surrogate of war nowadays. Think about what means Celtic Glasgow vs Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, catholics vs protestants. Or St. Pauli vs Hamburg SV, far left vs middle class. Religion, politics, in the balkans even ethnicity. This is why there is so much passion
@@matteoferrarizanolini6724 ... it has nothing to do with warfare , just human passion ... here in brazil we had no middle ages warfare , and have the same atmosphere .... if it had anything to do with warfare , then the americans would be the most energetic fans since they are the country involved in most wars in the last 100 years , ... its human passion and cultural differences plain and simple
i love the atmosphere more in the us there people can actualy sit next to the court wil in europe by most sports there are walls and fences between the players and the fans other wise fights will break out
The craziest thing is these are football fans who support their club in every sport. A lot of these guys don't care that it's basketball or handball or futsal...They LOVE their club
Just for the record, from 5:10 till 7:52 it's Aris fans from Greece(Thessaloniki). Do yourself a favour and go check them out. You'll see what supporting means in Greece both in football (soccer) and basketball games.
I'm Spanish and I think that, while we are pretty noisy at basketball games, we are nothing compared to Greece, Turkey, Serbia or even Israel. We are very quiet in comparison.
Europe fans are never about the players, they are always only for the club. This is about intimidating the opponent, this is love for the club. This is passion.
It’s passion. There is no organisation at European games. If anything it was too organised and diluted and homogeneous at the American games. You don’t need the national anthem unless it’s Usa playing another country. Yet they play the anthem at even school games. That’s not pride that’s narcissistic behaviour. Usa IS a library in all their sports. They sing only when the tannoy plays a tune. European fans make their own noise and don’t need prompting by a man on a speaker. We go not caring about food and drink and comfortable chairs
When Copa America was hosted in the USA. Americans got to see what true passion for real football was. It was the best time of my life. Felt like I was back home in South America ❤️👌🏻😭
Theres just the big difference: In USA you think when it finally ends, to let start the game, in Europe, at some teams, you want it to never end Well...that Maryland thing was amazing, I give it to them XD
I live in Romania and I’ve been to so many games like this, the football (soccer) ones are even better. I’m a girl and sometimes it feels a bit dangerous but I love how you kinda feel protected, everyone supporting the same team is like a family member

You have to remind yourself that USA still isn't the holder of the most won World Championships.
Americans know nothing about the world, clueless people who have no idea what sport is about. In Europe we have Clubs and Fans and sport is about allegiance and honouring the badge and the colours, in America they have entertainment institutions and their customers and sport is about creating an excuse for running all sorts of commercial activities. Who the hell turns up to a game to watch a concert during halftime or to see people dancing, for crying out loud?
What are you talking about? If it is basketball you are talking about we have won gold on 15 out of 18 Olympic basketball tournaments for the men and 8 out of 10 on the female side.. we dominate in the Olympics while only sending our amateurs.

@Емир Sevimay They wouldn't have a Bucks chant but just the booing against the opposing team would be night and day compared to an NBA game :P
If they really commit into it that is
True Greece fans don't like Giannis and for sure the atmosphere wouldn't be like this. The atmosphere gets like this because of their passion and love for the club not for one specific player.
@@MarioCindric Greek fans love Giannis, what are you talking about?
@@wonderlandian8465 They respect him, but they create this kind of atmosphere because of their love for clubs and national team. They wouldn't create this kind of atmosphere for Bucks, for them it's just some club in America. As for Giannis he doesn't have same status in Greece like some others iconic Greece players, like Nikos Galis, Diamantidis or Spanaoulis had.
@@MarioCindric Exactly .in Greece they love their teams. Even in their national team they are not as passionate as with their teams.

European fans: passion

Europeans which are in video are Serbs ❤️🤍 and Greeks 💙🤍 aka Balkans. For us its normal , way of life!
"There is a huge skill difference" yeah, but don't despair, USA will catch up eventually.
what?
An american saying europe needs to catch up ... the irony.
US will NEVER come close to this, dream on
in europe fans don't need a screen or an announcer to tell them what to do... they will go batshit crazy either way
Imagine knowing what are they chanting.7 out of 10 words are bad words 😂.and also dont expect this atmosphere in national matches.greeks love more the club team than the national team.

Love all ex YUGOSLAVIJA ❤
Daa!
Welcome to Balkan!
That explains why. Thanks for the clarification.
In greece basketball and especially football are a religion. No other way to describe it
7:56 I lived that experience live it’s just a magic thing ZVEZDA ALEEEE
I was inside the stadium when the lights suddenly shut down !!! Its our lifestyle !!! We learn to stand our ground to fight for our colours and for our pride !!! Super 3 ultras for eternity!!!
When I was a little girl I asked my dad why sport competitions are so big. He told me that people fight other countries in sport so they get their anger away and don't have to go to war with them instead. So sport prevents war. I don't know if it is true, but in a way I feel like USA has way more military than european countries so maybe it has an influence
sports and war is similar in Ancient Greece they would stop all wars for the Olympics.
Hffggdctde
Greece for sure..AEK- PANATHINAIKOS-OLYMPIACOS-ARIS-PAOK all of them are Greek teams with the most Crazy Ultras in EUROPE!!!
Serbian too bro 🇷🇸❤🇬🇷
Partizan, Crvena Zvezda🇷🇸?
Yoou are wrong ,Zvezda and Partizan fans are one on the best
@@nebojsatodorovic7410 you're literally a Crvena Zvezda fan saying that can't we just agree that us 2 countries are on top together?
I now imagine a massive European army chanting together on one side of the battlefield
Big difference is that European fans go to matches because they love their club and yes, European fans equaly go to football (soccer) and basketball matches. USA fans go to matches because of players and show.
7:26 is when the magic truly begins, what a masterpiece bravo!
Just 1 thing... Do fans in USA fight after the game for there team... They dont know what love is...
It's funny how excited he is by the chanting. If only he knew what the crowd chant about...
lol yeah
Just for the record, from 5:10 till 7:52 it's Aris fans from Greece(Thessaloniki). Do yourself a favour and go check them out. You'll see what supporting means in Greece both in football (soccer) and basketball games.
That’s more like USA vs Balkan (and possibly Turkey or Spain)
Wasn’t any team of Spain or turkey it was Greek teams and Serbian
@@ΙωάννηςΑζωιδης i know but they do have similar atmosphere at their matches
@@babyaardvark yes of course it’s similar and has nothing to do with American atmosphere
This is not Europe, this is the Balkans!!!!!
Which is Europe
Chant around 8:00 is actually from AIDA, the famous opera
It’s passion. There is no organisation at European games. If anything it was too organised and diluted and homogeneous at the American games. You don’t need the national anthem unless it’s Usa playing another country. Yet they play the anthem at even school games. That’s not pride that’s narcissistic behaviour. Usa IS a library in all their sports. They sing only when the tannoy plays a tune. European fans make their own noise and don’t need prompting by a man on a speaker. We go not caring about food and drink and comfortable chairs
If a team loses they will literally fight against each other on the street
There should be at least a game between the nba champions and the euro league champion played in Europe
That would be incredible!!
When Copa America was hosted in the USA. Americans got to see what true passion for real football was. It was the best time of my life. Felt like I was back home in South America ❤️👌🏻😭
Theres just the big difference: In USA you think when it finally ends, to let start the game, in Europe, at some teams, you want it to never end
Well...that Maryland thing was amazing, I give it to them XD
I live in Romania and I’ve been to so many games like this, the football (soccer) ones are even better. I’m a girl and sometimes it feels a bit dangerous but I love how you kinda feel protected, everyone supporting the same team is like a family member
This is the reason why NATO was unable to defeat Serbia in 1999 by bombing us. Come again, we are ready and waiting ;)
But then again Croatia kicked your arse
Man, it is not just european basketball fans, it is GREEK fans
The yellow team is > from Greece , and we have got crazy fans !!!

0:43 Europe basketball was always better NBA is just a show, Euroleague is whole new level and the fans too
ridiculous. Euroligue does not even approach NBA standards
@@TheHungarianOak in euroleague they have strategies and play organized, in nba the most advanced strategy they have is pirck n roll or calling for a screen tf u mean ? Nba is entertainement with good plays from 2,3 players , in the euroleague everyone contributes and players dont fucking shoot the ball from halfcourt bc they just want to
@@en4bl3 I agree that Euroleague is much more cenered on the team, with less individual actions, but thats the reason why Euroleague cannot produce megastars. NBA as the American basketball is still light years ahead of Euroleague
@@TheHungarianOak every year more and more overseas players come to the nba including doncic who at the age of 16 was playing at real madrid, and many more others
@@TheHungarianOak ive literally watched all playoff games on the nba app, by buying the nba league pass, and i can tell for a fact that the do tje stupidest mistakes and for some reason defense is not known to them, they can only shoot or dunk. Also seeing 42 points, or 60 points is impressive as a statline, but having 7 turnovers every game by a "star" player is just shite, thats literally 7 attacks lost. Their game isnt anything impressive most of the times , but out of the blue u might get a crazy dunk. Thats it. Also, yes of course u are gonna have big statlines since the play every quarter for 2 mins longer than in euroleague
i was in Madison Square Garden once to watch a basketball game. It was nice. Nice seats, fantastic icecream. It was relaxing and then i went home..........
"Europe is slowly climbing into that same hemisphere of basketball just moving into the next level." "There is a huge skill differential".
Meanwhile the USA is just buying quality with insane amounts of money and have their own "world championship".
You guy know nothing about basketball. It's just mind-blowing how us citizens live in their own protected bubble. I really doubt that people from the USA know more about the world than citizens from North Korea.
I’ve been to a game in Chicago (Vs. Atlanta). you go to a show, it’s entertainment. You eat, drink, watch famous players, there was even a Disney show at half time. In Latin America and Europe you go to see basketball and the show is on the stands.
