I don't think "God Save the King" was played as a sign of respect for King Charles. It was played because the hosts were under the delusion that this was a visit from the British Royal Family.
I doubt anyone thought the visit was an official one considering that Robert Montgomery The British High Commissioner in Nigeria said " They are not representing the work of his majesties government on this visit". The played "God save the King" to honor King Charles and show Harry and Meghan where their loyalties lay.

I always wondered why Harry's presence in Afghanistan was leaked during his first tour of duty. Was he a liability and did senior staff want an excuse to get him out of the way? Training as a gunner/co pilot gave him another chance (another shot sounds crass in the circumstance) but from all accounts it took him three times as long as most to qualify.
What bothers me about the entire Nigerian trip is the fact that Harry inspected their troops. Who in heavens name is he to do this? He’s not an American veteran, a Nigerian veteran nor a working British veteran. Who gave him permission to do this? How is he able to do this? He’s a common citizen. No more than you or I. Can you imagine one of us getting out of a car and walking over to inspect their military troops? They would have us in jail.

There could be disaster for them to force themselves in other countries pretending they represents the United Kingdom when they are not. The only solution I can see is a Dissolution motion. Where the organisation is wound up and a new accountable one established. HRH, Prince and Princess are Royal Styles, and the monarch has absolute and sole control to remove any and all Royal Styles without any involvement of Parliament. When I saw the pictures of Harry during the National Anthem in Nigeria, I did wonder how it would make the King feel? The words 'long live our gracious King' are particularly poignant at this time owing to the King's health. That his own son, a Prince, cannot bring himself to sing the words in public, shows Harry's disrespect to his father IMO. The pair should earn their living WITHOUT clinging to those royal titles. They despise British royalty so it's complete hypocrisy to use them - but they know without titles, their value and standing would drop. This is a very weird situation.

They committed so many faux pas in this visit, offending people with M's inappropriate revealing dresses, ignoring people who were offering them gifts (M more interested in chasing the cameras for a good photo op), and refusing to dance when someone tried to get them to dance to a favourite nigerian song. All of this offended the people involved and those witnessing. I even heard that a couple of ordinary women got put in jail for a couple of days because they had complained about M's indecent clothing. They're a walking potential international incident.

The "divine right" of Kings in Britain, the acceptance that they held their titles through God and were His representative on earth, ended after the Glorious Revolution (1688-89.) We have a Constitutional monarchy and as such, it exists "by the will of the people." The Royal family reign they do NOT rule. Harry may still be a prince but he has no birth right. This is reserved to those who are on the "direct line" to the throne.
Until the passing of our late much loved Queen Elizabeth, Harry was a part of the direct line, being the son of the heir to the throne. On the death of Her Majesty though, Prince Charles became King, William became heir to the throne and the entire direct line shifted. It now runs from our King to William and then down through Williams line.
Harry is no longer a part of that direct line at all. As with his Aunt, Princess Anne, he continues to be a child of the monarch, he will always be our King's son, but he will through time sink further down through the line of succession as the Wales children grow up and have their own children. Princess Anne was born 3rd in line, moving to 2nd when her mother ascended to the throne, but is now 17th in line, this is Harry's future.
Being a part of the line of succession makes Harry family, it doesn't make him an heir. This is why the only Royal family members who have a birth right are those who are on the direct line, a direct line which can be traced back over 1.300 years, the heirs. As Harry repeatedly told us in his book, he was never an heir only a "spare." All it would take to remove Harry's Prince title is a letter patent signed by the monarch, nothing more.
