Just started planning an itinerary for visiting Japan for the first time, an can't wait to visit this amazingly beautiful country, thanks for the insights
Kyoto is my kind of place. I love it when there are small portions , so that many items can be tried. So fun. Everything looks so fresh and delicious. Thanks for bringing me along on another fine journey Phoebe! ☕️
Kyoto is a Favorite of ours. We never had a bad meal. Very affordable. The city is very walkable. And how can you not like that matcha. Temple Heaven! Hope you're doing ok Phoebe 😃 Be Well! Stay Healthy ! Harriet, Jim and Yuki (Currently in Bethany Beach, DE for a little R&R ) 🙏
Hi Phoebe! I understand your love for Kyoto! Wonderful scenery. So much excellent coffee and delicious food. Your smile is really infectious! Thank you Phoebe!
@@travelforphoebe My S.O. and I have a different itinerary from yours of course, but we are definitely going to chill at the Park Garden one afternoon. Thanks for the find! Also, we are going to Fukuoka on our trip. Have you been?
Love your energy and smile 😊 I solo traveled to Tokyo in February and absolutely loved it! I want to do Kyoto and Osaka next. What would you say are the biggest differences between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka? Thanks so much!
Kyoto is like a dream, the happy one that you start missing after waking up..but I have one complaint: I could never avoid the queue before getting into any good restaurant ! The food was delicious, as expected from Japan, but the restaurants close randomly and we are garunteed to find a huge queue already. It was like a musical chair during the dinner time.
Can’t believe that amazing meal with everything you ordered cost $20 Aussie bucks! I’m stoked to know Japan is still relatively affordable (at least for food and transport?) post-pando. I’m from Perth and visited in 2018ish, and I was happily shocked because I heard so many people say Japan was expensive, but I found it to be either on-par or cheaper than Perth on most things 😊
Thank you so much, Zoey! I cannot take all the credit - I have been blessed to find an incredibly talented editor :) We've been working together for a few weeks now and he's amazing. I'm forever grateful for his help - I was really struggling with the workload and burnout! Thanks to him, I'm back on track and ready to get my sparkle back :) So glad you're loving our combined work in the videos - we've been focused on improving the pacing in the episodes and having his help has meant I have more energy to film better too! P x
Hiya! Sorry I missed a few episodes, I was hooked on the Olympic Games and now on my way to celebrate Notting Hill Carnival in London. I was in Kyoto for one day during my Tokyo trip. Haven’t seen that Hokan-ji temple but I went to the Kinkaku-ji temple and absolutely loved the vibes. 6AM visits are brutal, but the quietness and peace is unbeatable. You were lucky Kinkaku-Ji wasn’t that busy. It was packed when I visited back in 2018. Thanks for sharing Kyoto with us and see you in Tokyo! 🤙
Having just been there, really enjoyed this. We visited many of the same places, and had Coffee at Stumptown Roasters a couple of times. Amazing place.
Amazing video, Phoebe. We were in Kyoto back in May 2024, so the memories were great. In places the crowds were almost overwhelming, while other places were reasonably quiet. I would love to say that Kyoto was my favourite Japanese city, but I can't, ... because I can't choose between any of them! BTW matcha icecream is just the bomb isn't it!
Hi , thanking for your videos and thank yo for including accommodation as many don't. reccomendations on best time of the year to travel to Japan please? Planning on going next year and cant decide May-June or September -October.
The Sannenzaka Museum is also wonderful. Kinkakuji Temple was rebuilt after being damaged by arson in the Showa era. In hot Kyoto, there is a place called Kawadoko, where you can have meals on a tatami room built over the river. It is a typical summer scene in Kyoto where you can cool off in the heat.
Kyoto--a place we've always wanted to visit, and you only made that desire stronger with this vlog! * I like how you did the opening for this video while walking through the iconic Tori Gates. Best place to do that, imo! * Good work on the editing and planning of the vlogs. I know you do it almost every time, but I always like how you plan out some of your vlog moments, such as doing your intro from that iconic location, even though it was day 2 in the morning. Then, during the intro, showing flashes of the various activities you were able to somehow get in during such a short time. I can only imagine it's quite a bit of work to try and think it through how you're going to frame, film, and script the entire video while also trying to get in as much as you can during your visit. (Oh, and be sure to have a great time while doing it!). Easier to do in a place you've been to before? * Erin can't help but comment that, despite the rainy day, your hair still looks great. "I could never do that with my red curls! Tell her I'm jealous!" * Yup...biggest problem with the Nishiki Market would certainly be wanting to try it all! * We always really love your brief shots of the sites you visit. You really have a great eye for capturing the vibe and feel of a place. Makes for great quick shots like you do and, I imagine, some great photos! * In the Gion District, did you see the areas that are now closed off to tourists? If so, did it interfere with your enjoyment of the area? (i.e.: did they have to take away the "best" places?) * OMG...Matcha Parfait!!! Wow. * At the hotel--if that's what you think of as a "mess," please never see what happens to our hotels during our visits! 😆 * Rokkaku Ace: that place looked amazing, right from the get-go of having locals waiting to get in. Always a great sign! And then you showed the food...wowzers that looked great! Also, gotta love a place that gives you a candy on the way out. * GMYG! And from there! * Ack...missed having the name of the place on the lower left corner when you start the chapter on the Gates (hence my inability to type it--I'm a terrible speller). * Said it many times, just as you have, that getting to places early is the secret to avoid the crowds (usually). * Never had a nitro coffee...had a nitro beer, which I like, so glad to hear it works for coffee as well. * Glad the group tour worked out for you...despite the rain! (Erin: "Again?!? How does she keep her hair looking so good?!?" I think you've made someone very jealous!) * Matcha again...torturing us! Quick! enjoy that before it all melts! 🤣 (Great advice--matcha does not taste like grass). * Cool--another international friend! Another benefit of doing a group tour. * What beautiful shots of the Golden Pavilion. Thanks for the info--makes for a better experience for the viewers. * Love Claudia's honest review! 🤣 * Arashiyama is definitely a must-visit. Thanks for the advice that it should be a part of something else while there. * ABSOLUTELY love the shots looking straight up--surreal! Again, I can only imaging the hard work you're putting into these. And we're so glad you went to your "happy place" of Japan. I am keenly aware of feeling burned out and I expect you were even more than just that after India; brilliant idea to go and find your smile and sparkle again in a familiar place. Looking forward to wherever you go next and we'll see you again on Sunday! Rob & A Very Jealous Erin PS: Jamaica was awesome! The Scuba diving there was nothing short of spectacular. 🤿Thanks for inspiring me to get back into it. Next site will definitely be the Florida Keys. And, hopefully, we'll make it back to Queensland and get to see the Great Barrier Reef soon!
So glad you had a wonderful time in Jamaica! I'll have to get all your tips off you when I finally get to visit. It looks and sounds amazing. I loved reading all your thoughts on the editing, especially as I'm very blessed to have found an amazing editor :) We've been working very closely the last few weeks and all the amazing editing you see in this episode and Japan series is thanks to his skills! The burnout has been overwhelming and I'm very grateful to have found such an amazing editor and someone who can create beautiful videos that still capture the TFP feel. Honestly, he's more than just an editor, he's part of Team TFP now! I've just text him and told him about Rob's Reviews haha he reads the comments too cos he loves to see what you guys think of the videos and I've let him know R.R is a real highlight! Having his help gives me more time and creative energy to focus on the filming aspect. So I think that's why these Japan episodes have been extra lovely - I'm able to spend more time planning each trip/shoot, capturing the feel and experience beautifully and have more energy and joy to capture on-camera too. I'll be back on the path to getting my sparkle back now. India really took a lot from me and it's taken me a while to get back on my feet. I'm glad Erin thinks my hair looks good hahaha I thought it looked awful and frizzy! :) P x
Great video! - I only wish you had titled some of the landmarks that you visited. There was a shrine and temple, that you verbally said, but there wasn't a caption on screen to say its name. I'm sure I can still find it, but it would just save me the work do so.
Hi again. Wow - the bamboo forest and the setting for the Golden Villa are incredibly beautiful. They look really peaceful. I love an iced coffee, but hardly ever buy them because I practically inhale them!😂😂
A great video just makes me wan`t to go back. The imperial palace is also worth a visit, one of the few old places that is mostly original . But like you I was only there for a couple of days and you can only see so much.

Good luck in Kyoto. Used to be nice and peaceful but It has gotten so packed & noisy even before Covid. It’s worse now and tbh lost its Zen vibes.
@@brutaltruth7197 That's a shame but tbh you should see our country it's packed everywhere, an were much smaller than Japan
