"Arirang" is a Korean traditional song that well displays the Korean soul and emotion. Due to its popularity and history, various remade versions of Arirang have been composed in Korea. This song is especially meaningful to Koreans because it played an important role in bringing the Korean people together whenever our country was going through hard times. Also, it has the power to bring the North Koreans and South Koreans together. As a Korean, I deeply thank you for reviewing this meaningful song. Great reaction. If you knew her backstory you would be even more impressed with her. She is a devoute Christian and sings for God and to comfort people. She is a kind and a joyful person. She is a cancer survivor and still is not 100% healthy but she still does missionary work and helps the needy. Take care.

Yep, Venice gets it :) . Sohyang's high notes sound so good because of her excellent techniques. That's why she one of the best vocalists ever, objectively speaking, recognized world wide by people who understand vocal pedagogy. An insane amount of training is behind those great sounding notes of hers. We're so used to hearing strained and unsupported notes from mainstream artists, that when we hear solid ones like those by Sohyang, even though we may not know what's going on technically, we can hear the difference, the sweeter quality. Have fun continuing your Sohyang journey guys.

Pop singer So-hyang completed an all-time performance with world-renowned producer David Foster in his performance celebrating the 30th anniversary of Blue Note.
At a concert held in Blue Note, Tokyo, Japan from November 30 to December 3, Sohyang won MBC's 'I Am a Singer' program and won a number of hits including 'I Have Nothing,' 'Oh Holly Night,' 'Bridge over Trooved Water,' 'I Will Always Love You' and 'Stevever.'

Arirang is a traditional Korean folk song that possibly originated as a song expressing sorrow between two lovers. It also became a resistance anthem during the Japanese occupation in the early 1900s. It was sung by the people to help strengthen and unify the nation during that time. Today, it is considered the unofficial national anthem. That's one of the reasons why she sort of encouraged the audience gesturing them to sing along with her during certain parts of the song.

ARIRANG contains a series of mixed emotions, called as a.k.a "HAN" in Korean, such as sadness, happiness, hardness, bittersweet, anger, melancholy and wish/hope all in one as a accumulated blackhole. Since Korea had been invaded by China and Japan for last five thousand years, they underwent so many tragedies being slaved, kidnapped, raped, and murdered. In spite of these, Koreans could overcome against internal and external issues by hardworking while being formed as song formation when they were working. This why ARIRANG feels like a bomb of so many kinds of emotions.
I do appreciate to those countries saved Korea from Japan's illegal occupation/colonization. We could not see the light of independence if those countries did not help us against Japan. Thank you, world. Thank you USA.

Would love to see how you guys react to Sohyang Dear Love. The song is in King of Masked Singers. The eng sub can be found in vimeo. To me, it is one of the saddest song that she has sang. Just concentrate on the tune and read the lyrics. You can close your eyes and absorb the tune. Beautiful esp when she is crying in pain (wave after wave), drawing me emotionally into the song. Would hope that you will not discuss as it will spoil the mood for you.
