I have a 2014 Sportsman X2 550 with very low hours and the fuel gauge shows empty even when totally full. I probably have the same issue as you had. Your video has given me assurance that I can possibly fix this myself and save some money! Thanks for posting this! My fingers are crossed! :-)

Check the wiring plug coupler between the pump/sending unit and the instrument cluster display. My guess is it’s disconnected or you have an open circuit due to a wiring issue. Hope this helps.

I just got a 2015 sportsman 570. The problem I'm having is that when I fill it up with fuel it shows full sometimes then it'll go down one notch then back up to full. This happens even without riding just sitting on flat ground. Any suggestions?

My issue on my 2004 600 is that the fuel gauge has "disappeared"... Any ideas for that?

You didn't have a light spring wrapped around the white peice of the float base? I have an 09 that looks the same except for that.

I got my 04 with a horribly rusted sending unit. Its beyond repair do you know where I can order the exact same one you have in this video?

Having the opposite problem with my 800EFI. but I think the problem is the same. Mine shows full tank almost all of the time. Almost ran out of gas the 1st time I took it out. lol

If the gauge disappeared I'm wondering if the wires to the speedo have come apart or it pulled out of the fuel sending unit on top of the tank. That plug on the sending unit didn't have a lot of room on mine so maybe turning the steering over time disconnected it???

Did you find what your fix was? my gauge is non existent on my display. I was hoping not to take the plastic off and maybe see if I can check it where the wires come up into the connector bus up by the headlight/speedo cluster

This is just an oem Polaris unit. I’d visit a polaris dealership.

I'm sure you would but some of us would prefer to keep our hard earned cash in our own pocket. You're welcome to go blow $400 on a part the rest of us will be paying $.20 to fix. I had a similar issue but I ended up replacing the float after finding out how much polaris wanted for it.

Buy a Honda. Much better quality machine.
