I don't even skate and still can tell how UNBELIVABLE GOOD you are as teacher / coach. You are gifted with 2 hugh Talents: The Talent 2 Skate like god! The Taltent 2 teach skating like a god!
Im 49, skated 80’s and 90’s. Picked it up again last summer. I start every bowl/vert sesh with a few runs like this. Great ol man warm up and Im cementing in fundamentals
Always spot on. As a personal trainer and normal sports enthusiast (lol) with 20 years of skating , I can surely say Mitchie knows how to translate fundamental physical, mental, and emotional aspects of coaching to every single skating tip he provides. Really world class, these guides will stand the test of time just watch.
Been skating halfway decently my whole life and I am a personal trainer on the side (I just help friends train for events). People in general have no idea the strength that gets built here. This is all very untapped as far as knowledge and application goes, especially in vert skating.
Skateboard in general, got me surprised. I used to skate when i las a teenager. Now on 35 im back with some Friends and on THE First day It was like..."WoW! Do you even remember to Feel this breathless And tired back in THE day? Such a workout"
As a teen without skateparks near or far, we finally built and kept two quarters. I pumped for hours, then days, then after a few weeks added quickturns, then rocks to fakie and rock and rolls. The progression after that came easily adding early grab bs airs and wathever fancy I had. When some friend wanted to start with dropping or airs I strongly recommended to pump and get used to the transition. I saw friends ignoring me and slamming hard then going to the basic pumping. It is also good cardio. I think I'll go back to the basics for a few weeks. Just fun.
That’s perfect. It seems like such a natural way to go it really surprises me that people are in such a rush to be in a crazy situation that they’re not ready for
Perfect. If you want an in depth course for vert fundamentals you can check out our Patreon. We have 170+ videos on there with an entire “understanding vert” course
I think these tips that show simple techniques to not only warm up but also use as building blocks to trick development or take your skating where ever you want it to go are super valuable. Thanks.
This approach keeps us motivated as well as safe. It’s hard to feel motivated when you can’t pull off tricks even though we love skateboarding. By re-exploring the fundamentals, we have more fun with less risk. So it’s a win win.
I think these but long form would be even better. Love Mitch’s understanding of skating. A video or series of videos of you recommending what order to learn tricks in, and what tricks are needed in order to learn others would be cool. Perhaps a video for each terrain, flat, bowls, mini ramps, vert and parks etc would be super informative. Then how to piece them altogether.
@@CRooKeDoNeZ Sick. We will post more content here for free always. but the entire course in full and a lot of exclusive content will be on our Patreon that were starting
Thoughts on other board setups outside of the norm or standard? Would riding 70mm wheels make you go faster/higher? What about a longer wheelbase on the effect of riding, speed, etc?
I love your channel Mitchie! Getting so much out of your vids. I skate at Mona and when my back wheels get near the first crack/seam I start to feel real sketchy and wobbly. Do you reckon getting higher mainly about accumulating time/volume on it?
Yeah so you might have a few different problems. The first thing i would look at is your board set up and your stance, then if youre moving around when youre changing directions. We’re gonna post more free content on here but we just dropped an entire “understanding vert” course on our Patreon that would be worth checking out. Im very proud of it
Hey man just really looking for advice, do u have any advice for pumping all the way to coping coz I'm getting to about two foot below coping on a 12 , 14 foot half pipe
Hey yes i do. We just dropped an “understanding vert” course on our Patreon with about 28 videos in there focused on the fundamentals. Also there are about 170+ total videos and we will update it every month. It’s worth checking out because it will cover the thing that youre asking about!
Mitchie's videos are so good. But imagine having him as your in person coach. You would be spinning 5's by the end of the week he's that good a teacher.
There’s some real truth to this. If we could skate every day all day I don’t think it would take very long (relative to learning on your own) to be comfortable trying shit
I wish I had a ramp made of wood near me. All the transitions around me are 6-foot concrete bowls and I'm still struggling to not stay upright relative to flat ground when I run into the transition
I don't even skate and still can tell how UNBELIVABLE GOOD you are as teacher / coach.

Oh thank you! That means a lot and we love the non skaters in here supporting the channel!

After having gone through some vert PTSD and stopping, this short vid got me back to the big ramp to start from the beginning. Much appreciated.
That’s great! Everybody takes a bad one on vert… hopefully its just not 2

Thank you! Actually getting strength training from a great personal trainer helped me understand the fundamentals of sport a lot better
It shows!@@SKATEiQ
they should put half pipes in fitness gyms. this would be a great leg workout! imagine you could get at least 10 people at one time 🙂
I dont realize how much strength it takes because ive been doing it for so long. But that's like the top comment is how much energy it takes to pump

Exactly! I’m happy you guys appreciate the “back to the basics” mentality that I approach it with

I think vert is a great starter ramp. Slower, softer and guves you more time to feel the transition!
Wow great content and excellent tutorials. Thanks for these!

Boy are you gonna love February 1st….. keep an eye out. We are grinding it out right now putting together the sickest series we can

Imagine someone doing this at a public skatepark. They better bring a sign along with their tripod and iPhone
I think the person holding the camera outside of the vert ramp would suffice
Hopefully that ramps is empty ahhahah
I’ve literally pumped for cardo in a vert bowl. 80+ pumps back and forth
That will get you in shape and get you great at skating !
How cool he doing that 🎉
20-30 minutes until your legs burn 😮
More like 2-3 minutes and mine are on fire 😂.
Guess I need to go pump more 👍
Hahahaha I’m not gonna lie, I overshot it on purpose. I want you guys to actually do it and see how much it helps cause it was life changing for me
How do u pump the last 2 foot of vert, my ramp is between 12 or 14 foot and I can't quite get to copping, but I can get pretty high.
Heck yeah man
cheers i am stoked that the content is being received the way it is. sometimes simple is better.

Looks so cool when you hop off the board and back on like you are just floating above it🤌🏾🔥

what happens? do you fall forward into the transition??? could you explain when you fall and how
as a street skater, I’ve never felt more different from vert skaters than hearing “just pump for 20 minutes.” you trying to kill us Mitchie?
Don’t kill the messenger !!!
