South Korea did field their own variant and used it in a few operations, but for the same reasons (with weight and portability being the biggest ones) it never entered mass production and standard usage.

And the HL2 Alpha/Beta is also video game history. It was leaked a good year before release and only consisted of a few level tubes, and then a finished game was released in November 2004. The German hacker was in Valve's system for several weeks and it's likely that the alpha was all Valve had at the time.

The XM25 in MW3 was in the Launcher category as a secondary weapon, and was balanced in such a way that made it useless. _Payday 2_ is a co-op game where they don't have to worry as much about it being OP.

It is referred to as the NICW (Nanotech Individual Combat Weapon), and is the weapon used by Alias during the prologue, later obtainable in other missions; Alias' default weapon after the prologue is a strange looking grenade launcher, which feels a lot less versatile than the OICW/NICW. It should be noted that its appearance in Red Faction 2 has some design differences from the real life variant, most notably an ammunition counter for both the rifle magazine and grenade magazine. Its weight could be excused in Red Faction 2, as it potentially is manufactured with abnormally light materials (it is allegedly nanotechnology), the elite soldiers seen in the prologue and in some parts of the game seem to be wearing some sort of power armor, and the main characters are granted augmented strength via nanite infusion after the prologue.
For gmod I would rather prefer raising the bar redux guns the oicw version they made is accurate to the og from the beta and it looks and feels fancy to use and play around

i kinda miss now those exotic firearms such as the Pancor shotgun (the HK CAWS need more appearances too), the XM29 Launcher(i learned it is based about that rifle , like a separated part) the G11 and OICW rifles , they were all interesting guns... but i guess if they appeared only in some games of late 90s-early 2000s , it is because the devs in studios made more researches on guns since then , and they decided to put other exotic guns which aren't prototypes which would be barely used in gunfights
