This almost made me tear up because it made me think about all the wasted years I spent miserably doing things for the acceptance of everyone; and still failing. This may be the only life we get, I don't know. But if it is, then I don't wanna waste my one shot at existing just because others disprove of my life decisions. ****** that.

@@katvan844 Nothing like missing the point of what he's saying. Your "limitless potential" has nothing to do with what he's talking about and infact is the exact opposite. You're focused on goals and ends, as that is the only use for potential. Potential is meaningless in this moment. How good of a dancer you can be tomorrow is pointless when you dance now. Potential leads to trying.

  • @sharky01234
    @sharky01234 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Thankyou Mr Alan Watts for sharing with us your understandings and awareness. Your ability to communicate such complexities of human nature in a beautifully simplistic way is extraordinary. We are in a current dance that is to be felt more than thought of, feeling of the moment here and now, with freedom from our accumulated past memories, however beautiful they may have been, it really is best to completely let go of it all. The more I release my past memories the happier I feel. It has become so easy to cherry pick all the best memories and then feel somewhat depressed when I currently do not feel this, and it just spoils my present moment to not only feel great happiness right here right now, but to really miss the whole point of our chosen existence. Your words are like a hammer hitting my thick head saying wake up!wake up!wake up! So I thank you once again, thankfully there are many of you, and I am listening, and I am truly trying to develop into a healthy natural being, by understanding the urgent need, to get out of my own way....

+Michel Schweinsberg Bieber is also walking on the path too my friend, as we all are. He is helping people through the medium of music, and he is progressing and changing greatly in his work and giving people enlightening ideas as he becomes more self actualized. He is one of the pop culture gurus in our world, and although different, the message seems to be the same. Wake up and be real. Alan Watts is a phenomenal thinker and great at teaching people how to reason, Bieber appeals to people that are dealing with complicated emotions, and music helps to set people free through releasing (Dancing/Singing/Movemnent/Etc) There is one body, many parts. He is just one of many that pass on knowledge. There are many paths and ones that are smoother for some minds than others. It all depends on how you assimilate knowledge. Tom Campbell who wrote " MyBigTOE " has much more first hand knowledge of how reality works than Alan Watts but that doesn't make him any better? No because some people may not need more knowledge to be started on their journey of discovery. Just a few videos of AW is what they need or Eckhart Tolle or Ram Dass or their Husband, Wife, Boss, kids... teachers are everywhere and the better ones you already know ;-)

Not trying does not mean doing nothing. It means to not get in your own way. Like how a boxer instinctively slips a punch- instead of thinking and contemplating his next step. or how a pianist naturally flows his finger without really thinking. or how a driver drives the vehicle without really "thinking" about it. Have you notice this? youre day dreaming and your body is literally doing all the rest and youre not really putting conscious attention to it. - kinda amazing
We have been trained in schools to stop and really think but all that does it puts us in a stiff state. our muscles tense up our actions get stuck

I'd say in the next few years and /or decades things are going to change dramatically. People like you and anybody else who sees past the belief systems will be essential to guide by example or share ideas as to which way we need to point. It will go one way or the other and I hope and feel that more people who become aware to what we truly are are going to tip the scales for the better outcome.

HDvids101 yeah you are so right....our education system is now in a very bad condition just bcz people don't know who they actually are...they are running and chasing which is futile....if they understand this somehow there can be a big drastic change affecting the whole society including a child who is forced to participate in a race which takes us nowhere, his childhood is being ruined by this race cuz his mind is being diverted in the direction which is just opposite to his soul's...😕😕 i have been also affected badly by this and now too...everyday i see many children like me, who has became just like a machine and who believe that the whole universe is just like a computer, processing some data and giving the output 😭😭😭 they don't know what is life, how to feel its essence and how to feel their soul....all they know is a race which has to be won by taking over the others ! 😭😭😭😭

Life is a journey , not a destination. life is for living, everything you do or have done has been done by your own mind . Sometimes it's boring , sometimes it's great , we all have our ups & downs (so to speak) it's all about learning . kindness & not judging ppl is the best way. remember you send out vibrations even with your thoughts . I've learnt that the hard way lol (but it's got me to the here & now) I must of been doing somit right . For all my hardships ect have taught me valuable lessons , now I can put down to experience. & on hindsight the little steps I took during my worst of times were realy giant leaps into the unknown. I also say if I have learnt something out of any given situation, lesson then in turn becomes a blessing. There's good & bad in everything, & everybody. watch for the ones who take your kindness for daft Ness. you learn to weed them out fast. never to return to your life & happiness, I called them emotional vampires. They will suck you dry. They don't know any other way . ! I'm getting deep lol.

I'm going to add a very curious and contentious post. And I want to say at the head, that I am a HUGE fan of Alan Watts, and think that he was a profound genius in his ability to articulate a vast ream of truths to the world.
What I want to ask is this. Given, that Watts was a known and public diseased alcoholic and a furious cigarette smoker and an untethered womaniser in his time alive on earth, how does the community that has been built around the legacy of this man and his words, resonate with his actions outside of the podium?
I would imagine that 75% of the people who hear his words align themselves with plant medicines, love crystals, love plants, hate carbs, and fundamentally condemn the practice of drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes because of some idea that they interfere with the pineal gland or some shit. What do those people say of this masters real life actions (read, addictions) and how they lie incongruent to their own ways of life?
I resonate with Watts because I am also a person who obtained a decent set of spiritual realisations as a result of being drunk and stoned. And it was fucking awesome, and I loved it.
I will just finish by saying that KALE SUCKS. And you are in a delusional state of mind if you enjoy the taste of it, because, truly, it is horrible.
    Thanks,
Jesse Chard - The Modern Ritual

Watts had some answers but not all. He was just as confused as many. What would creation be if we all just did whatever the hell we want? He did what he wanted despite it not just hurting him but his family and patrons. He is still flesh based. There is a realm after this, this placs is fallen, the last thing I want is to wake up as he says back here to do it over again. That is exactly what the snake eating itself represents, eternal flesh, damned. Come right back. So while Watts had many great points on some I think he was mislead.

@@carlvonfuckwits2934 totally! "He had some answers and was confused as many". Well said. His gift was just good intelligence level and great articulation skills, and sharpness. But that is pretty much it, he was no genius, ...but still very intelligent guy, way above the average.

I have loved and am loving. It's enough, it's ok and it's good. I'm aiming to try hard enough to ensure my future but not too hard as to bring about excessive worry. You've got to completely let go and be incredible enough to know the right things will come back to you. This is quite difficult, especially to maintain with no lapses. Still trying to figure that out

It is within the darkness of contemporary life that we may paradoxically find the light shining out of the tunnel. The integrity of humanity is hugely engulfed by sorrow and lack of love. Love without any strings attached will reappear if we act selflessly. That is to say, the loneliness which we feel is an inevitable outcome of the existing status quo. We will almost be constituent parts of one Wholeness if we are all together and vis a vis being dissolved in the brightness of Love. Those matured in love would effectively help others to become free and them in turn would pass on the light to others. There exists no politics, no diplomacy and no effort to dominate. Only freedom and love.
