    Since the halcyon days of the seventies, Osibisa’s rhythms have been the soundtrack to our lives.
    Huddled in a friend’s living room, we were entranced by the pioneering beats of ‘Osibisa’ and ‘Woyaya’
    -albums that became our anthems.
    Fast forward to today, and their live performance still pulsates with that same vibrant energy.
    However, it’s a bittersweet note to find that the visual storytelling fell short.
    This was more than a concert; it was a legacy in the making.
    Yet, the lens through which we’ll remember this moment didn’t capture the grandeur it deserved
    -a poignant reminder of the power of preserving art for posterity.

    It's 50 years ago when I played this album on cassette and kept playing it even in reverse as encore and my recently departed Mom used to say it will snap sooner because of overplay. 😅😅😅😅❤❤🎉🎉 From South Africa

    I have loved the sound of Osibisa since the early 70's and always will. Greetings from St.John's Newfoundland. My step brother Ray Roman turned me on to this joyous sound and vibe many many years ago when we were the young dudes and I will never forget him for opening my mind to this wonderful sound.☮🌴✝♾

    The greatest ever!
    I believe they are as follows:
    0:03, 06:23: Teddy Osei (Ghana) (Band leader) (Saxophone)
    01:14, 10:47: Sol "Rhythm Man" Armafio (Ghana) (Drummer)
    02:54, 21:34: Spartacus R (Grenada) (Bass)
    03:47, 10:53: Loughty Lasisi Amao (RIP) (Ghana) (Percussion, Sax)
    10:22, 27:23: Robert Bailey (Trinidad) (Keyboard)
    12:11, 30:00: Mac Tontoh (RIP) (Ghana, Teddy's brother) (Trumpet)
    12:29, 22:46: Wendel Richardson (Antigua) (Lead Guitar)
    Please correct if I have got any wrong. Also, on percussion at 20:14, I cannot figure out who that is.

    • @johnrobertson586
      @johnrobertson586 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that Loughty Amao again?

    • @okothobbo
      @okothobbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnrobertson586 Thanks for the suggestion but that is however clearly not Loughty who, at this stage of the performance, is on sax and unlike the person we are wondering about, is bearded, dressed differently including a Safari-style (not Fez-style) hat and laying down a very high-energy tempo, unlike our friend who is more studied. I am thinking that is Daku "Potato" Adams who joined the original line-up as a percussionist. All the best.

      I wouldn't go as far as to say that, even though I went as far as to say Alvin Lee blew Carlos away, until Hendrix blew him away! That didn't make any sense! (get the drift?) But you are right Sir, this band blew away a lot of bands in creativity and longevity. I had "Happy Children" in 1974.
