It's possible that the germans killed him, as they know he and he's father were planning on negociating a peace treaty with the allies/soviet union and jump out of the war, tho it's unknown.
A note: In Hungarian names are "reversed". For instance in Hungarian its Horthy István but in English its István Horthy due to us Hungarians putting last names first and first names last.
