I agree, absolutely! Maybe I will watch the series again. Also, hats off to the writer of, “Crash Landing on You,” he/she did an excellent job. As a Canadian, I know very little about the history of Korea and to me it is sad that the country is split the way it is. Those with freedom to come and go and those who do not have such rights.

This drama was just perfect ❤ unlike other dramas where the whole plot revolves just around the lead roles....in CLOY every character had a significance be it his fellow army men or their wives and the chemistry of the second lead couple was also fierce🔥 this drama was an emotional rollercoaster... them experiencing a whole different life in North Korea and being astonished by the luxury of South Korea etc was just fab😊😊 this drama was not even 1% cliche.... CLOY and DOTS are one of the best dramas of this decade😊😊😊 lots if love from india

From wat I read online..Apparently SH came out while DOTS was airing....So, Korean audiences were already hooked to DOTS and didn't pay much attention to SH. But SH gained massive success internationally.
For me its always Scarlet Heart. It made me fall in love with K dramas and made me realize that k dramas are truly best dramas...

I had the same thought when i finished CLOY ( though its not the first Kdrama i watched) until i watch When The Camellia Blooms. You need to watch it as well. CLOY is really a memorable drama still, but WTCB warms your heart even more.

Oh my gosh! You forgot:
1) The scented candle held high over the crowded market
2) The way he grabbed her and then just leaned over the cliff in slow motion like it was nothing
3) Their hang-glider confessions while in mortal peril; she says something, and he replies, "I know"; he says something, and she replies, "I know"
4) His face peering at her in the hospital from a distance
5) The way he was always appearing silently out of nowhere and literally whisking her to safety
6) His face appearing above the blurred S. Korean crowd; just standing there realizing he had finally found her
7) The glances from his parents as they witnessed the depth of love this little, troublesome stranger had for their son, and the obvious love he had for her (PRICELESS!)
Love, Love, LOVE this show. Of course it has many classic Asian romantic drama markers: melodramatic acting and corny comedic energy, yes - loads of that. However, the comedy is not typical at all. It is well-timed and expertly delivered with too many to count tiny, little stylistic actions that accompany the humor perfectly.
The bitterness of sub-plot characters caught in a no-win situation of extortion and threats some might say was over-the-top; but honestly, if we were in the exact same hopelessness under the oppression of a corrupt regime, what would we do? The attention to detail with all the supporting characters was wonderful.
Bin's physical height and spell-binding good looks are a tremendous asset, of course, and make him very imposing. But his intentionality in this role as a Communist authority figure who tries to downplay his naturally compassionate and courageous character is superbly done. His expressionless, stern and brooding face conveys meaning with the slightest change; clenc. Brilliantly done as a minimalist approach that nets optimum results.
It was such a great surprise to see the female lead start out in stereotypical fashion; the Asian version of a "ditzy blonde", chattering away non-stop, batting her eyelashes and pouting like a spoiled brat while we are supposed to accept that she is a gifted and accomplished businesswoman. Ugh. But THEN - she gradually transformed into a fiercely loyal, critically-thinking woman who adapted admirably to a complex situation and willingly invested herself in others while stripped of her fortune, status and influence. Her willingness to accept risk if it might protect others was depicted in a believable way.
Finally, and not at all the least of my great appreciation for this performance - Thank you that we were not insulted by the ugly Hollywood version of male/female relationships! We are spared the horrifically aggressive "standing up sex" two seconds after two people first meet each other and then ask what their name is the next day. This drama was devoted to countless ways two people can experience the apprehension, frustration, confusion and joy of discovery in learning about each other while doing every day things, some silly things, and some outrageously traumatic things. This show really is a sweet diamond in a sea of rude, dull and hyper-sexualized material.
I am a 62 years old American woman with two university degrees. I endorse this film effort for all its delightful quirkiness, it's Asian cultural tradition, beautiful musical score and filmography, and yes - a super predictable and totally implausible storyline that we easily forgive because the performances from EVERYONE are so very enjoyable.

Oh yes, indeed! What is so compelling about CLOY is that there is so much depth in the story and the characters that you're completely drawn into the whole narrative (and you willingly suspend logic!). We have two very gifted lead actors whose embodiment of Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se-ri already have us fully engrossed, yet we are also drawn into the stories of family and friendship played by a stellar supporting cast. There is so much to discover, think and love about even the minor characters, all the way to the bit players. We have a grudgingly respectful enemy captain who acknowledges an honorable man when he meets one, a sassy nurse and a sympathetic doctor chattering on about "your girlfriend," a wise facility representative who suggested a vacation, NIS agents who low-key support our leads even as they regret that they have a job to do, and a little girl with an innocent request. These characters help drive the plot, they are elements of destiny, and are even surprisingly pivotal to some of our favorite scenes.
Another thing I love about the series is that it makes you pay attention to the dialogue. The lines are sharp, witty, beautiful and character-driven. I would even say that because Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin can convey so much emotion without words, it's possible that some scripted dialogue would have been removed. Brief conversations cut across various places can reveal key plot points, such as how Seo-dan becomes an unlikely ally for Se-ri, and how blabbering one's address on command, albeit incomplete, becomes the sweetest ingredient into one of the most swoon-worthy reunion scenes in KDrama.
The skillful direction and storytelling makes you alternate between laughing, crying, swooning, panicking, raging (sometimes all of the above at the same time). As you mentioned, the "skinship" between our leads was wonderfully restrained. The usual swoon fare is left to our imagination (and the second couple, which provides a great contrasting dynamic). We don't see Captain Ri carry a drunk Se-ri to bed, we just see her wondering how she got there. Instead, the scene focuses on how he makes coffee for her. We don't see Se-ri borrowing his shirt, we just see her wearing it, and the scene is all about much-needed comfort. The moments and the palpable chemistry build and sustain to a crescendo so that when we *finally* get that kiss, our hearts pretty much explode for them.
And the music, oh my heart.... Ok, imma shut up now!

I wish this show could go on and on forever. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Their love is magical. I only wished more for Dan as she only wanted someone to look at her the way Captain Ri looked at Se-ri. And when she found it, he dies. My heart broke for her when she was on that bridge crying

I've watched exactly 44 kdramas now, and out of all the actors and characters I've watched and fell in love with, Captain Ri is the best of the bests. He's too perfect.
And the chemistry of Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin is unmatched! Out of all the dramas I've watched with great chemistry between the actors, they have the most natural chemistry.
INDEED you seldom find exceptional chemistry in a loveteam...its too natural as if not acting at all...more projects for them in the future

This is the best K drama I’ve ever seen. All the ingredients are here, comedy, suspense, action and great love story. The main and supporting casts did their role superbly!!!!! The kissing scenes of Binjin were decently done yet the viewers could feel the great love they have for each other!!! The best Kdrama of all time!!!! This is the reason why CLOY is a phenomenal success globally!!!

THERE WERE SO MANY GOOD SCENES THAT MAKES THIS DRAMA MY FAVORITE
I remember that I finally calmed down after the goodbye scene and was like "ye, I'm not gonna cry anymore, this was THE sad part", and then I started sobbing when SeoDan's mom bought Seri's products to the women in the village and it had their faces on the package💔 it was such a beautiful scene and they got their closure about Seri and they finally found out wether she's safe... I actually through the whole drama wished for them to be able to see each other again or something since I loved their bond and this gave me just what I needed.
soooo many times I clutched my chest and went "MY HEART" my family thought I was having a heart attack... nah just watching CLOY.
when i heard someone said "his/her eyes is sparkling" usually its just a metaphor, but her eyes is like, actually sparkling how is that even possible

You can see that Captain Ri was first a loyal Army Captain. He didn’t reckless show his feelings at first, but he waited until he saw her true feelings. She wanted him to know her feelings. He did the necessary things to protect her while in N. Korea. He worked hard finding out about that killing truck and who were behind it. I liked the plans he made to protect S. and I loved the way she protected him. The way they dealt with one another was funny and genuine. I hated that she had to wait so long to see him again.
The chemistry between the lead actors is electric and the supporting cast is really good , the scenery and music are fabtastic, also the script is tightly written and well paced.
