    Thank you so much for these inspirational videos! I have been "studying" them for a few days now. Yesterday, I chose a dozen pieces of 12x12 DSP and tried your method out using sketches I collected. I surely didn't use the entirety of all the DSP, but did make a dozen cards in about 3 hours. I was really happy with how it all worked out!! Anyway, I wanted to thank you for the benefits I have received from your work, and I'm looking forward to watching you more :)

      Tracy Tracy Thank you for your kind words and support. I'm so glad my tutorial provided some inspiration for you! 😊 Awesome job using up some 12 x 12 paper. A dozen cards in only 3 hours is great! Keep it up! 🙂

    I always learn so much by watching your videos and this is no exception. Just LOVE the dragons! I had trouble picking my favorite but I guess it comes down to Sketch Saturday #469 with the green dragons on them. I love the way you improvise on sketches to add extra elements that just make the card 'pop' - thanks again for a great tutorial!

      Beth Hansen Thank you! I really appreciate your kindness. 😊 This was such a fun paper collection! I wasn't sure about Sketch Saturday #469 at first. But after using it a few times, I'm really liking it. Perfect for the long leftover strips. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

    I got so excited when I saw your new video was with a Doodlebug paper pad!! Love all your cards, as always. QUESTION: What color of Brad do you use most often and where do you buy them? Is there someplace that specializes in brads on-line which is cost effective? Thanks, Kristie, for all the hard work you do sharing your talent with us. P.S. IMHO, I also wish you would zoom in closer so I can make out more clearly what's happening. I strain trying to see which paper you're using when. I know the cards are posted on your blog, but it's not as convenient as seeing the action up close when it's happening, if that makes sense?! LOL Love ya, sweet pea. 💖😃

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Karen Thompson Thank you! This was a super fun paper collection to use. I use black brads the most. Then probably Silver and gold. Most of my brads I've had for many years, so I don't remember where I bought them. But when I do need new brads I buy them online from The Eyelet Outlet. They have a wide variety. The reason I use a wider angle is to show the whole 6x6 process. I wouldn't have much space to work if I zoomed in. My craft mat is only 2 feet wide. But perhaps I will try some different settings in the future.

    Kristie, I love all of your videos and this one is no exception!! I've gravitated to using the layers for all of my cards too because I love how it makes the papers/graphics "pop". I love the creative process of making cards. I gift the cards to the senior citizens at our church (as they are the ones who seem to relish writing and sending cards to people so much). It always feels good to see the delight and appreciation from them (they have commented that it feels like getting a $5 gift card with each one :) ). Thanks so much for the inspiration.
    One question though...where do you get the bulk of your sentiment stamps? (I am always looking for neat ones like the ones you use).

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your kind words, Lori! I love that you are blessing others by giving your cards. So amazing!
      I buy my sentiment stamps from several different companies. But my favorites are Reverse Confetti and My Favorite Things. They have quite a few sentiment only stamp sets and are high quality stamps.

    Ive watchwd several of your videos recently and become so inspired to start using my 6x6 pads instead of hoarding them. I have 1 question. I see you cutting down the white bases a lot, are some of your cards a little smaller than regular a2 or is it my imagination that you are trimming them down. Thanks for sharing the creativity

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carollee Washington Thank you! Yes, I definitely recommend using those 6x6's to create amazing cards.The paper companies will keep making more. 😉 My cards are all A2 size. The trimming of the white card base is simply because I don't like even the tiniest sliver of white peeking out from behind the card front. Unless I purposely planned for a white border. It's the OCD card maker in me. 🙂

    Krisie, hello, you use so much of the tape glider tape on your projects, I am curious where do you get yours from? I have a glider also, the tape is hard to find and very expensive, I am in Australia, thanks!

      D Welcome and thanks for watching my videos. 😊 I find all the card sketches online from different sites. Mojo Monday, Operation Write Home, and Sketch Saturday are just a few. I provide direct links to all the sketches I use on my blog. My blog link is in the description above.

    Very cute cards. I am curious as to why you were able to get four additional cards from this pad compared to the Fairy Tales pad, was it the patterns?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Val's Faves Thank you! I think the different patterns was part of the reason for the extra cards. I also added the 3/4" strip inside all of the cards from the Fairy Tales collection vs only about a dozen from the Dragon Tales collection. I've never used the exact same sketches with 2 paper pads before, but it was definitely fun. 🙂

    I have been binge watching your videos and loving them. Very inspiring. Love the layered look. Now that Operation Home base is no longer open, what do you do with the cards> do you donate them ?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      vimcho Thank you! 😊 With Operation Write Home closed, I do still donate a lot of my cards. I've been writing encouraging/uplifting messages in them and giving them to residents at local nursing/retirement homes. I donate cards to my church. I put together boxes of cards for silent auctions for different fundraisers. I gift my cards to friends and family. I also mail out a lot of cards. Whenever my card stash gets too big, a need for handmade cards always comes up. 🙂

    • @vimcho

      I wanted to know so that I would know how to donate the cards. I made 250 cards for donations for my son's teacher last year since she was having a surgery. And I do make them for teachers gifts etc but loved what you do and wanted to try that.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      vimcho How kind of you to help raise money for your son's teacher. I'm sure it was appreciated. I personally would suggest looking locally for somewhere to donate cards. Hospitals, churches, nursing homes. There are lots of organizations online that accept card donations as well. 🙂

    Hi Kristie! Your paper pad videos are so inspirational -- I have such a hard time using up my patterned paper! I haven't watched all of your pad videos, but this seems to be the first time I've seen you use images -- that was especially helpful, thank you!
    I'm a card maker but have a HUGE stash of 12 x 12 (long before 6 x 6 pads were a thing). Do you ever do a collection with 12 x 12 paper to help the rest of us out? lol
    Also, I notice you cut your card bases. Are they cut smaller than A2 so you don't have to worry about the card topper not fitting? Thanks! (Oh, and thanks for choosing music that isn't annoying -- in a 40+ minute video, the shorter ditty ones can really get tiring. lol)

    • @laprofessora64
      @laprofessora64 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, last question (I think)... Do you find you have less waste using 12 x 12 solid cardstock, or is there another reason you use it rather than 8.5 x 11?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind words and for watching my videos. I really appreciate it! I do include images once in a while on my cards, but I think this was the most I've ever used for a 6x6 card set. I love stamped images, but I don't color very much.
      Since I love 6x6 paper pads so much, I rarely use 12 x 12 paper anymore unless I need multiples of the same card. I donated most of my 12 x 12 paper stash to a local school several years ago. I have heard of people cutting their 12 x 12 paper down to 6x6 size. But the paper designs are usually sized larger for scrapbooking, not card making.
      All of my cards are A2 size. The trimming I do is simply cutting off any slivers of the white card bases that show after adhering the card fronts. I can't stand even a tiny bit of white showing, unless I planned for a white border.
      I"m glad the music is acceptable. Sometimes it's hard to find decent free music. :)

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no preference on which size cardstock I use. When I'm looking for coordinating cardstock, I just look through my paper stash first. (I have a lot!) If I can't find the perfect colors, I will go and buy paper. The local craft stores usually only have 12 x 12 papers.

    • @laprofessora64
      @laprofessora64 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the quick responses. I understand about 12 x 12 patterned paper not being sized for cards. I will try to find the larger spaces or cover most of it (using as a mat). I've been tempted to cut it all down to 6 x 6 just to see if that helps spark the mojo. lol The other thing I appreciate about your cards is that you don't stray too far from the sketch, so I can see what it will look like if I follow it. Sometimes the sketch looks meh, but then it looks so much better after you're done with it. Again, thank you! I'm feeling the urge to try, maybe not a full pack of paper, but at least going through several sketches and seeing what I can do.

    • @laprofessora64
      @laprofessora64 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OH! Okay, another question (I'm so sorry!) You note that the time you spend on the video doesn't include the planning. Other than figuring out the dimensions of pieces for the sketches, do you "plan" your layouts for the paper you have? In other words, are you pre-planning the cuts on your patterned papers and, more importantly, on the cardstock to minimize waste? You always show us the leftovers of the pad, but not of the cardstock. Are there many scraps there, or have you planned the cuts to maximize use?

    Kristie, do you donate the cards you make? If so, where to? I'm always looking for ideas of places to donate when I'm able to make a bunch of cards.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Abby Mills I donate most of my cards locally. I give some to my church, nearby nursing/retirement homes, and I put together baskets of cards for auction fundraisers. There always seems to be a need for handmade cards. I also give boxes of cards as gifts for family and friends. Plus I use quite a few myself to mail out. I live in a highly populated area, so it's not hard for me to find somewhere to donate my cards. I hope you can find the perfect place to donate your cards. 🙂

      Linda Goudelock Hello! Unfortunately most of the big craft stores don’t carry brands like Doodlebug, Echo Park, Carta Bella, etc. I buy 6x6 paper pads online, usually from A Cherry on Top. You do have to pay shipping, but they have sales all the time and carry a huge variety of products. 🙂

    I more than like your videos!💕 I'm new to all this. I have several questions! Do you color all your stamps first? And how do you decide how many? Do you use dies to cut them out, fussy cut or leave them on paper till you need them then decide? It looks like you make the card panels, do you then put them on card stock? Is that included in what you say how much you use, or is that extra? I'm sorry for so many questions. I'm just overwhelmed with inspiration with truly no idea how to! Grateful for all you share!

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kathy Aguilar Thank you for your kind words and welcome to the world of card making. 🙂 Since I knew I would be using several dragon images, I did color them ahead of time. I probably had about a dozen colored, but had to do more as I worked my way thru the paper pad. I don't always include colored images on my cards, and I only do very simple coloring. I like to have the dies for the images. If I don't own the die cut set, I will fussy cut out the images. Any extra images, I donate to my 7-year old daughter. She's a paper crafter as well. 😊 I do make the card fronts first, then adhere them to a nice heavy weight card base. No, the cardstock amount I mention doesn't include the cardbases. So for this set of cards, I used 19 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 for just the cardbases. Thanks for watching my video. I'm always happy to help out fellow crafters. 🙂
