Xbox put on a great show, there was only a handful of things that I’m interested in but even the things I wasn’t into still looked good, I’m pumped for Indiana jones & the Gears prequel or reboot, I’m a PlayStation first gamer but I also have a Series X & Xbox cooked. That was a 9/10 event for Xbox while Sonys state of play was a 3/10, I’m glad Xbox seems to be recovering cause I want both consoles to thrive.
Of all the heaps of mediocre games shown, Dragon Age was the most embarrassing. Wow they are really determined to wreck that franchise.

You're spot on with everything you say and Xbox's show was far better than Sony's. But this was Xbox's big one for the year, while Sony's was just a run-of-the-mill State of Play (even January's SoP was way better). So hopefully Sony end up doing a proper showcase around September maybe when they announce the Pro console, and show off the big games coming in the next couple years. And hopefully this Xbox showcase lights a bit of a fire under PS, this is why we need competition.

@@Shrewdy1 Sony didn't have a show. It was a prerecorded video that had nothing to do with Summer Game Fest. Microsoft merely announced third party games from publishers that they swallowed up. There's no original content, and you still don't own your games on Game Pass.
Great showcase. Lack of gameplay/release dates the main problems with it.

This showcase made me want to buy my first Xbox
Xbox has put on great showcases the last few years and this was no different - the best so far in fact - but that hasnt been their problem recently. They're the masters of presentations, but their actual business operations and studio management has been what has let them down. Alot of great games on show here, but Xbox need to actually follow through and for the games to hit. I'm hopeful they do as there's alot of promise shown here, and the industry needs Xbox to be a competitive party. Btw I know they're strictly grading the showcase and nothing else, but just making an overall point on Xbox
Also the lack of dates (or even years for some games) isn't ideal - the likes of Perfect Dark is probably 2026 at earliest, so hopefully people don't start complaining about it when it doesnt come next year - this is the issue with revealing games so early. Also surprised Indy didnt get a date as thats their big one for this year, but I'm sure it'll come, maybe a date reveal at Gamescom.
Blessing said that in order for the 9.5/10 to be a 10/10, it wouldve required a Halflife 3 level reveal.

The amount of "2024" with no release date or even a window was odd to me when we're halfway thru the year.
It's not, they're all either going to get delayed or come in hot.
Was especially surprised at no date for Indy, as that's their big one for end of the year. It would be a big blow if they can't get that out this year, especially in a year where Sony don't have a major title coming out.
It's all well and good putting on banger showcases, but this just comes back to Xbox needing proper studio management and getting their games out. Still hopeful it hits this year

There are all probably finished games, xbox jst trynna spread it since they literally have a war chest of ips and devs working after covid

State of Decay 3, no gameplay. Fable, I can't call that gameplay. Gears, not even an "in-engine" tag on that pointless CGI snippet. Not to mention lack of release dates and many 2025 promises. 7 out of 10 showcase

The quality of and quantity of games they showed makes existing and potential Game Pass owners very comfortable for two years straight. Incredible showcase by Xbox.

Xbox basically has survived the console war with this showcase, the number of IP's that were showing up is amazing....one of the best showcases i have seen during E3 times....9.5/10 for sure........Xbox is back baby...!!!
Xbox lost the console war years ago, they aren't participating in the traditional way. You even had Phil himself tell us this on the very same channel you're commenting on right now!

The only real criticism is the lack of concrete release dates for games this year, which they addressed repeatedly.

Several games was it another Soulslike or another shooter like....atomfall? Stalker..3? 2? I dunno it just was 🤷♂️

Then others had small gameplay snippets
hell they really couldve used the hype of a hi fi rush 2
And no shocking or cool 3rd party moment

It wasn't a masterpiece but it was so much better than usual. That's why everyone was so happy because we are used to xbox giving a shitty showcase. But this one was good. There were like no BANGERS, BUT it was a consistently good quality show. There were only like a few games I didn't care for. (Winter burrow, Mecha Break, Diablo 4 DLC even though the Cinematic was cool, Starfield DLC, Dragon Age, Age of Mythology, Fall out 76) none of those interested me.
Don’t announce a game unless you can show gameplay and have a date. 6 month out is the furthest you should ever announce.
I'd say a year, but yeah, if any other publisher did what this "showcase" did they'd be ripped apart.

Yep, most of the games had already been announced, besides Gears E-Day (which had no gameplay), they interesting games like Doom Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Atomfall are all coming to PS5 day one.
Fable and Perfect Dark don't lool good.
Compulsion's game looks interesting, but they don't have a great track record and the varied frame rates, with intentional choppy FPS is jarring.

It was a C at best, nothing comes close to when Sony revealed FF7 Remake and The Last Guardian coming back, as well as Horizon Zero Dawn getting announced.
When Sony also revealed Days Gone, Spider-Man, God of War's new take on that universe.
When Nintendo showed Breath of The Wild gameplay or Tears of The Kingdom.
Hell even the show that revealed Sunset Overdrive was better than this!
What new IP got announced here that are "exclusive" to XBox?
There were none!
Of the games that are coming from Microsoft's Studios only Doom Dark Ages and Gears E-Day were actually new, never seen before "XBox Exclusive" games.
Compulsion's game was announced before, as was Fable, Perfect Dark.
Doom, Atomfall, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 look great, but they're coming to PS5.
Phil basically confirmed that their games will be coming to PlayStation.
